Excellent in every way .host André could not be more caring and helpful.breakfast every morning is very fresh and delicious food.room is beautiful and clean accommodation.what more could you want !! Will be back next spring.😃😄

Excellent b&b

As others have mentioned in their reviews, we were greeted by Andre with a delicious piece of apple pie and a much needed cup of tea.  This set the tone for a most positive stay.  Andre is an experienced innkeeper and has gone out of his way to make guests feel at home.  We had had a late lunch and were planning to snack on cold cuts and cheeses for our evening meal and Andre generously set the table for us in the breakfast room.  He has lived on (at least?) 3 continents and regaled us with stories of his travels and experiences as well as with welcome suggestions for activities and places to visit during our stay in Belgium.  Our large room (a suite really) was absolutely spotless and had a comfortable sitting area.  There are several of his beautiful photographs of the area in both guest rooms.   We enjoyed our stay very much.  The only drawback was that it was too short!  Highly recommended!

Perfect stay at Amaryllis

As my wife stated, room was clean and bed very comfortable. Everything seemed OK at first bar an awkward political discussion, but a dispute over previously unadvertised limitations on wireless access escalated badly. Owner's intransigence antagonised my wife (who is in poor health and doesn't react well to apparent passive-aggressive behaviour) and we ended up parting on bad terms. My wife and I have travelled widely and stayed in some odd places, but have never run into anything quite like this before (bar a place in Romania where there was no-one there to let us in and no way to contact them!). In future we'll be sticking strictly with personal recommendations for accommodation in the Ypres Salient.

Great at first but turned turned somewhat sour

We had the worst weekend in our life and we left after only one of the nights despite having paid two nights.

The owner insists to switch off the WIFI at 10:30PM and becomes really impertinent about it if you question him. He is clearly insane for making if sound that he would die immediately if the router was left on while he sleeps in the room next to the router room.

Do not expect the advertised cable TV, it is at best a reduced freeview version at 5 or 6 channels whereby at least 3 are available for free on the internet and the rest looked like local, low standard tv

The owner blankly refused to even leave it on one of the two nights and said that "that is the way it is here". 

The owner also does not allow you to finish your breakfast which was pretty basic and starts to take the crockery off the breakfast table while you are still trying to finish your breakfast.

The B&B is clean and the interior is fair, maybe a little on the bland side but the owner is not fit to run a B&B at all; he has to seriously learn to treat guests right who might have special requirements and who actually expect to be treated with respect and no welcome piece of apple pie could make up for the lack of conduct on his behalf.

Andre made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived with tea and apple pie.  His experience in the B&B business can be seen in his attention to detail in our spacious and very comfortable en suite room. Plenty of ‘parking’ space for bags for the short stay visitor living out of a suitcase and cupboard space for those who unpack.       
Like all our hosts on our Battlefield trip, he was an enthusiastic source of information and suggestions.  We spent most of our day at the excellent Memorial Museum Passchendaele, taking a lunch break at the Koklikoo Teahouse and Bistro next to the museum.  
We took up Andre’s suggestion that we visit nearby Railway Wood and walk to Hooge Crater Cemetery and Museum.  Very sobering to see the war photographs of the quiet fields and wood we had walked through and to visit the shallow trenches near the crater.
We look forward to returning in the not too distant future
The Corner Bistro (with a take away Frietshop) at the end of the road offers a good meal (open Wednesday – Sunday).

Great place to stay

Located in a strategic position to visit all the historic sites of the region (Passendale, Langemark, Ieper etc.) and the monumental cemeteries (Tine Cot etc.), it has just been impeccably renovated.
