Hôtel de la Tour

We stayed at this hotel for three nights to attend this year's Belgian Grand Prix at Francorchamps. It's a good 25-30 minute drive from the circuit (without traffic) so during the Grand Prix weekend, you can expect to more than double this. We weren't too bad as we were on a motorbike so were able to weave through the traffic jams - of which there were many! Mostly as a result of the 40,000 Dutch (Max Verstappen) fans that were travelling our way back to the Netherlands! Anyway, back to the hotel. There weren't many current reviews at all about the Hotel de la Tour so I was a bit concerned about what it would be like before arriving. However, the room was spotlessly clean with two large windows, a very comfy king sized bed and a huge bathroom with walk-in rainfall shower and separate toilet. Everything was bright, modern and clean and we couldn't fault it. The hotel itself is located within an office block just right off the motorway so there's not too much else around it. However, the restaurant downstairs is obviously THE place to eat in the area as it was packed out every night and the food was faultless; from cooking your own fillet steak and chicken on stones to one of the very best duck and hoisin sauce dishes I have ever eaten. Oh and the cocktails were pretty amazing too! Service in the restaurant was exceptional too although you do need to know a bit of French to get you through. There was only one waiter who could speak a bit of English and he was just lovely and really keen to speak to you in English to keep improving. He looked after us every night and couldn't do enough for us. We had originally planned to drive out to Verviers rather than eat in the hotel every night but, after the first night it was obvious that this was a top-notch restaurant so we ended up there for the three nights. This hotel is also a great place to base yourself if you are touring around the area with places like Huy definitely worth a visit. Don't be put off by the corporate look to the outside of it as its really lovely inside.
