Nice place to stay, great location and great price. Our room was comfortable and the host was very friendly. The only issue was that the wifi and TV did not work during our stay.

Please don't go here: the room is full of bed bugs even though the owner was aware. I found out (too late) that several reviews mentioning the bed bugs but apparently nothing happened and the owner says she was not aware...

The operator was hard to contact. The front door wide open when we arrived and often left like this. The only access is up 3 flights of stairs. You apparently have to ask about the free breakfast although you can make coffee using the machine whenever you like but not if it is our of water. The location is great within the old town area.

I would agree to some of the earlier reviews about this accommodation. I booked this hotel without really much thought, regretfully. If I had more time, I think I would consider other accommodation in the city centre. 

While the lady is nice who welcomed me upon my arrival. It took awhile to ring the bell and answer though.  She showed me around and let me choose a room but since there was no lift and nobody would be able to help me carry my things, I just chose the next available room which was after two flight of stairs(!). 

There was no breakfast provided, it was not made clear though in the booking form. Good thing there's a nearby cafe at the corner of the block (but opens around 8-9am only).

In terms of cleanliness, I did not feel it was really clean. For one, the towels provided, one still had some stain... I tried to use one of the coffee cups/teacups in the common area but saw chips and stains as well. 

I think the worse part of my experience was the mosquitoes abound. I remember having mosquito bites on my face and upper body almost everyday. I even saw dead mosquitoes inside of the bathroom, for days (so it made me conclude that cleanliness is not the top priority). I even reported and requested to pass the message to the lady to help give me the mosquito repeller that one has to plug, but it seemed that the man totally forgot to pass the message, as when I came back to my room later that night, nowhere did I see the mosquito repeller. I must say the mosquitoes in the room (I definitely closed the windows the whole time), are really disruptive and could hear the buzzing while I was asleep too. 

Bed was big, ok. But the cabinet and furniture are really old but I guess it's acceptable. I really did not expect too much except for the cleanliness.

Perfect location but...

Good place in the centrum of Gent. Also very clean.

No lobby, its in a construction zone, you literally have to walk through plastic tarps to enter the front door! Then walk up 4 flights of stairs to get to the rooms on the lowest floor!! NO ELEVATOR or anyone to help with bags! Rooms are meager and cramped.  This hotel is actually a vert old house with rooms, not a hotel at all. This hotel was so bad it makes no difference how good the location is. I DO NOT recommend it for any reason.  I stated in Ghent before in a much much nicer hotel for the same price. BEWARE! Also no personal on property!!! Its like their hobby.  They have a Ring door bell that they dont even answer! The pits! I'd give it a zero if I could!!!!!

Perfect location for exploring the city and all it has to offer. Definite old world feel and plenty of great atmosphere.

We were a spanish couple visiting Belgium. We choose "La Ducale" because it is in the city center. The rooms are clean. We were in the top floor, very beautiful. The building is classic (better than the pictures from the webside). The woman is very polite and friendly. Always helping you with all the questions. 100% GENT! 

MAGIC NIGHT IN THIS AMAZING PLACE

Overall it was a great experience. Check in wasn't the easiest of all time as it has to happen at 4pm sharp or you have to set an appointment, but the lady was so nice, helpful, and really flexible. And the location of the B&B couldn't have been better as all my meetings were nearby.
