Hotel The River

Firstly we were on a road trip and we had no idea where or what Durbuy was like. We booked this one as it was less than £80 for a triple room. We were delighted to find a bustling little town with plenty of bars, restaurants and hotels so i'm sure you could find elsewhere if this wasn't suitable. The hotel is in massive old chateau type building that has plenty of character.The bar and restaurant have been recently done in modern but cosy style and looked lovely. The reception is still being done up judging by the wiring. We were given a newly refurbished room 220 that was up a few flights of very narrow stairs. Not recommended for anyone with mobility issues or lots of luggage.The smallish room had a double bed (which hadn't been adjusted properly and was wonky) and a very small room next door with bunk beds. The bathroom was next to this and had thin carpet which may prove to be an issue in later times. We had no view and had to leave the window open as the room is boiling and had no temperature control. Some of the rooms facing the street might have been noisy but had large windows and balconies that looked fun, Breakfast was included and was a small but adequate cold continental selection. Nice coffee.
