29 reviewsTravelled to Vitebsk from Minsk by Marshrutka which departed on the hour and took about 3 and a half hours. Had a day trip by train to Polotsk planned and was also heading to Brest on the overnight sleeper so wanted somewhere to stay close to the railway station – that was the main reason for choosing this gaff. The location was very handy for the station which also happened to be where the minibus dropped us off – less than a five minute walk. The town centre was a pleasant 15 minute stroll away over the Kirov Bridge. Not only did it look like this place hadn't been refurbished since the 1970s it didn’t actually appear like anyone had stayed there since then either. But nothing wrong with the room which was well appointed and very clean. The receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful although zero English was spoken – this wasn’t an issue and our registration was completed without a problem. Using a well known internet search engine translation service we were also able to arrange for our bags to be looked after on our final day before we were due to catch the train to Brest. However, something got missed using Google Translate as initially the hotel agreed to store our bags for five years! Now that would have been decent service...
