Gasthof-Pension Reisenberger

We stayed here for three days and were very satisfied with accomodation, food and wine. But the most appreciated from us was the very friendly a nice service, mostly of Reisenberger family members. The only defect was the breakfast buffet, which was very small.

We stayed here for 2 nights and had the chance to enjoy both the rooms and and the kitchen. The rooms are clean, ours had a nice big balcony and also a nice corner with a table and chairs. All meals were great. What I liked most was the staff. They were very kind and willing to help. They made us feel very welcome.

Altmunster is so picturesque as to almost be a parody of 'chocolate box' alpine imagery. Traunsee  in June has a water temperature of around 20 degrees - for Antipodeans that's comparable to Bondi in early Winter - and it makes for a very pleasant swim. 

Gasthof Reisenberger is situated about 650 metres west of the lake on Maria-Theresia Str. If possible, ask for a room on the south side of the building - the balconies look through the trees up to the hills; and immediately below is a stream which makes its Schubertian way to the lake. The restaurant is the height of hospitality and the food is exceptional value. The Cream of Garlic soup is exquisite - however if you are dining with anyone with whom you are planning any level of intimacy in the near term, then both parties should order or share it.

Reisenberger is a very typical Austrian Wirtshaus. You can enjoy the typical local kitchen and very nice beer. The service is excellent and very quick. When the weather is nice you can sit outside. They have allways something special on the menue, just ask for it.

This place is set back from the Lake, and is well signposted It's really well set up for bicycle tourists, with lockup for bicycles. Great breakfast, great shower, friendly staff, who speak perfect English. We stayed here instead of Gmunden, because the places in Gmunden only wanted two night minimum stays, and Reisenberger  were happy to take us for one night.
