Hotel Hirschentenne

We stayed for 5 nights over New Year. The rooms are huge but smelled of stale smoke which wasnt good. Breakfast is plentiful with free drinks to take up the mountain. As we arrived late we didnt know what to do for evening meal, apparently you have to preorder as there is no a la carte. We decided to eat out most evenings as we weren't sure we'd be back for a 6pm meal. The exception was new years eve when we did book in for dinner and were very glad we did as it was delicious, a 5 course dinner and excellent value. I think more could be made of the bar area and general evening activities. There wasnt much of an atmosphere created despite the hotel being full. The place was generally very quiet. Sauna and Steam Room suite was very nice. Staff were helpful where they were able but there was a bit of a language barrier at times. There is a games room but it is under-used. Overall, this place has a lot of potential, but was pretty cheap so we're not complaining. We got a good sleep but our room was at the back of the building overlooking the forest and the rabbit hutches! Location - good for exploring surrounding ski areas.
