We spent a night here on the way from Vienna to Salzburg. A beautiful small hotel, run by the lovely manager who is exceedingly nice and helpful, and the excellent chef. The rooms are very large, nicely furnished and well equipped. We had a balcony joining our 2rooms which made for a great relaxation spot opposite the gorgeous mountain views. We arrived at 9 pm, just as the restaurant was about to close, but they waited for us. It was a fantastic 3 course meal, of the caliber one expects at an upscale city restaurant, and we were amazed and the quality, style and atmosphere of the meal. Breakfast, served in the breakfast room, was equally good. Overall, a wonderful stay, wish we had the time for a few more nights.

We spent 7 nights in this location during the winter holiday from December 27 till January 3. The hotel was opened in October 2010 and has only 8 rooms which are very big (45 sq.m) with a large bed, a tensile couch and 2 armchairs, a hallway, a big marble bathroom (with bath robe, cosmetic articles, bath shoes), separate toilet, writing table with internet access, TV, telephone, minibar, coffee making facilities. The service is great, maybe because it is family business and the two spouses take care of every detail and ask you each time if everything is ok, if you enjoyed the meal, if you need something etc. We were very happy to see that cleanliness is their motto so to say, the room was turn out, the bed made, towels were changed daily and the linen once during our stay. We had half-board: the breakfast was pretty much the same every day - a plate for 2 with some ham and cheese and eggs cooked as we wished and a buffet with different sorts of cereals, home-made preserves and marmalade, fresh fruits, natural juice and espresso, small packs of butter and liver veal pate. For dinner we had a 3 course with salad, then fish and duck or lamb or veal, and the dessert. Congrats to Mr. Auer- the Chef! 
The location is very quiet, even though it is near the main street where you have a large array of shops and it offers free parking places. It would have been perfect if it had some spa facilities, but we drove 10 km to the recently opened Grimmingtherme in Bad Mitterndorf which is huge and offers a large array of services. The ski slopes are also at a stone's throw from the hotel  (10 min. drive) - we enjoyed the 54 km ski tracks in Tauplitz, but you can also choose others in the Steiermark region (Planneralm and Riesneralm) - the ski pass is available for all three. The nearest city is Liezen - 12km away if you want to do some shopping.
So great location, tasty dishes, nice personnel, but not too much fun for the New Year's Eve - the "party'' started at 6 p.m. with a snack in the reception and then we moved into the restaurant where we served 5 dishes. There was music done in a corner, no dancing, it all seemed very formal and stiff. There were also nice fireworks at 12 p.m.

We were on holiday in Bad Mitterndorf, staying with a friend. Our first visit here was for lunch after our long train journey from Vienna. 

Visit 1:
I opted for the beef noodles, my wife chose the ciabatta burger. We typically half our food anyway so we can both try everything. We really enjoyed our meals on our first visit. We sat outside in the sun, which was great. 
What particularly impressed me on this trip was that as soon as the staff had seen we were being bothered by some bug, a waitress came straight over with coasters to put on our drinks so bugs don't get in. I thought that was brilliant and showed how much they care about their customers! 

Visit 2:
This time we went for the ciabatta burger again (it was great!) and the lunch buffet. The buffet was so nice, and all so freshly made. There was a large variety of food available but I opted for roast beef, dumplings and veg.
The food, again, was fantastic. 
This time we had to sit inside.  My wife and I were sunburnt from the previous day already and the sun was really beating down. Inside it was air conditioned so provided some much needed respite! 

Overall, we enjoyed both meals here!

Visited Twice For Lunch

Fantastic hotel

A nice, elegant place

Check in and welcome: First, the reception was not occupied; then the receptionist greeted us in the second Person ("Du"); no help with the luggage or orientation in the hotel was offered
Restaurant area/terrace: Service staff could be friendlier and more attentive
Room: Austrian countryhouse style; modern bathroom; mattress and pillows are of poor quality and could be better; no toiletries available
Breakfast: Poor selection of food and drinks; staff was hardly available
Check out: Went fast, receptionist was a bit friendlier (same one as the day before)
Resume: Service and breakfast has to improve significantly. Would not book it again!
