This family run hotel offers a wonderful place to stay in St. Johann. Petra, the manager, and her staff went out of her way to make sure that we had a memorable holiday. Our group of 28 were delayed by 6 hours arriving at the hotel due to snow at Salzburg airport. She made sure that food was available when we arrived tired and very hungry. This was the first of many examples of how excellently we were looked after. Room 2115 had a large double bed with lots of wardrobe space and hangers as well as plenty of other storage areas. There was a rack for hanging wet, outdoor coats, a separate toilet and bathroom with a walk-in shower, a seating area and a dining table suitable for 4 people. There are an in-room safe and good bedside lights. The floor of the shower was slippery when wet, but a non-slip bathmat was provided immediately when we asked. The bathroom also had 2 covered electrical sockets near the basin which were ideal for plugging in an electric toothbrush, such a sensible idea. Even better, the bathroom floor was heated – wonderful when you return with cold feet!! There was also a large, heated towel rail which was great for drying clothes after brief washing. It worked well with socks, light t-shirts and pants. As part of our package we had breakfast and dinner provided. Breakfast offered a range of cereals, yogurt, fruit, eggs and a selection of cold meats and cheeses as well as different breads. This was very good. Dinner offered a selection of salads, a soup, a traditional main course and a dessert as well as a complementary drink. Extra drinks could be purchased at very reasonable prices. Every dish we had was excellent - I can't fault the food we were served in any way. The hotel emphasises the quality of the ingredients used and their efforts to offer traditional Austrian cuisine. To save energy and be more environmentally friendly the hotel offers the opportunity to not have your room cleaned each day and instead they offer each room occupant a free drink. This is such a good idea; I don't need clean towels and my room cleaned every day. They do insist that the room is cleaned every 3 days which makes sense. To me the most rewarding feature of this excellent hotel is the way in which they encourage their staff to ensure that all guests have a memorable experience. Good staff is the most important asset for any hospitality- related business and Hotel Bruckenwirt is one of the best!! Very, Very highly recommended – unfortunately I can’t give any more than 5 stars
