Erbhof Hinterkühbühelgut

This place is outside the town in a quiet and peaceful setting in beautiful countryside. The room was dated in terms of decor and the bathroom quite small but everything was very clean and all the rooms have a section of balcony. The breakfast was fresh and enjoyable every day with slight variations according to what our hostess had available and - makes a welcome change from chain motels - served on china with metal cutlery and proper glasses. This is a very basic B and B and visitors should be aware of having to pay for the room in cash as credit cards are not accepted. This we gathered is quite common in parts of Austria. Also, there is no internet connection and the room was lacking some of the things you might ordinarily expect, such as hair dryer and tea and coffee making facilities. You will need to take with you all the toiletries you want including soap and washcloth as nothing is provided, and you will need a car to find somewhere to eat in nearby Saalfelden. The owners do not speak any English. But we enjoyed this simpler type of hospitality with no frills attached and would certainly stay there again. We thought it was very good value for money.
