Tiefhof

We came to Nauders right after one of the biggest snow storms of the year - the town and surroundings were truly a winter wonderland. But even if it didn't look beautiful, our stay at Tiefhof would have been wonderful. The location was probably the best thing about it, but the accommodation itself and the hosts were equally unique and welcoming. The farmhouse and guesthouse are across the steep valley from the Nauders ski resort, but it only takes 10-15 minutes to drive there from the ski center's parking lot. In the winter, when there is a lot of snow, the last bit going up hill may seem precarious, but it's quite safe if you have snow chains on your car. The trek is well worth it. Teifhof is on a beautiful mountainside. In the winter, the cross-country ski trails start right at the house's driveway. The apartments are spacious and have a nice kitchenette and living room area. The family is incredibly kind. They welcomed our dog and we could buy their eggs, milk and homemade bacon, which was brought to our apartment door in the mornings. The mother of the family did not speak much English, but we got along fine. We woke up every morning with a view of two beautiful horses standing in the snow and a small mountain chapel. It was one of the best winter vacations we ever had.
