Our second stay at this wonderful hotel. It would have been our third but for Covid. It is located in Maurach, overlooking Lake Achensee and right next to the Rofan cable car. From the village it is a bit of an uphill walk to get to the hotel. We went for half-board to save us the need to trek up and down each evening. The 5 course evening meal was excellent. The quality of the food was first rate. It is a family run hotel. The family are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The garden has an outdoor heated pool and they have just had built a full indoor spa complex and infinity pool. The whole facility is absolutely stunning. The village of Maurach (and nearby Pertisau and Achenkirk) are all very small and are not well developed from a tourism perspective. But if you are a walker this area is for you. The hotel gave us guest cards that provided free buses. Brilliant. Most of the guests in the hotel were Germans or Austrians. It seems as though few Brits head this way. What a mistake
