As a chef, and having travelled Austria for ten years on business I can honestly say this is by FAR, the best food I have ever eaten in this lovely country. The staff are super nice. They are Hungarian actually, and the food is a wonderful mix of Austrian and Hungarian cuisine. The veal ragout soup and the stuffed chicken with polenta are 2 of the best things I’ve ever eaten and would compete with Michelin standard food and many a big name restaurant in London. Lienz is nestled in the Austrian South Tyrol and one would probably only be there to ski, but if you ever find yourself there don’t fail to eat here. Having written all of that the dessert (cottage cheese crepe) wasn’t great but I seriously can’t recommend the starters and mains enough. A must try !! 🙄👍🏼
