Hotel Stockacher Hof

My wife and I stumbled upon this pension via TripAdvisor availability search in a nearby resort. Despite no reviews we booked and were very pleasantly surprised, in fact we were so pleased that I almost didn't write this review as I wanted to keep it a secret. The family run pension is on the outskirts of the quiet village of Stockach and fronts onto the B198 in the Lechtal valley. This is a little off the beaten track and for us our first time away from some of the larger resorts that we usually ski such as Kaprun, Zell am See, Flachau, Chamonix and Les Arcs. If you have come here looking for loud music, bars, night clubs and fast food joints then you have come to the wrong place. This is a quiet, relaxing pension in the middle of the Lechtal Naturepark. The clean, well decorated rooms are good sized. Our room had a balcony with a view across the valley. We booked on a Bed and Breakfast basis and had an enjoyable continental buffet style breakfast every day. The Wellness centre has a Traditional Sauna, Steamroom, Infra Red Sauna, Showers and relaxation area and is decorated in a rustic "Lord of the rings" middle-earth style which we really liked. The Warth-Schrocken ski area is about 20 mins drive but there are other smaller ski runs closer to the pension. There is a ski bus that runs to the ski areas. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the pension and would stay here again. Highly recommended.
