Pension Bergmaehder

My family and I spent a week at Pension Bergmähder for New Years 2015/16 and I can't say enough great things about our experience, the hotel and the proprietors Doris and Fritz Wibmer. First off, being in Oberlech for our family with young kids was great....no cars, winter wonderland everywhere. The apartment accommodations are modern, comfortable and set up perfectly for skiing. Doris and Fritz are caring hosts and take painstaking care in all aspects of their guests' travel, comfort and fun. As Americans (albeit well travelled), we were not sure how an Austrian "pension" differed from a hotel or apartment-hotel and historically have been wary of all-inclusive lodging with concerns of quantity-over-quality. First off, our apartment "Zürserseemähder" was as well outfitted and modern as it appeared in their website, and actually more spacious. The bedroom opened to a massive shared balcony with fantastic views - we never would have had any of this in a Lech/Oberlech hotel...and probably would have paid more. Second, the meals were excellent Austrian cuisine, perfectly presented and with the love/character of a family owned restaurant. My girls, aged 6/8 always had meals tailored to their liking (but healthy) and we all looked forward to every meal. Interestingly, the wine selection was impressive for 5 room boutique hotel....we only wanted Austrian wines of course but the variety went beyond Austria. On top of it all, the proprietors are extremely honest people and a pleasure to be around. We will surely return to Pension Bergmähder in the future.
