Wieshof

My wife and I have just returned from a 1 week stay at Hotel Garni Wieshof situated just above the village of Kirchberg in Tyrol and it is a typical family run Austrian B & B establishment.. It is a very informal hotel which has a very homely feel to it.. On arrival, although we we not met, our room key and check in paperwork was in the reception area for us to collect and we found our room without any issues.. The room was a reasonable size, with a balcony giving excellent views. It was clean and comfortable with Austrian twin beds, table and chairs, wardrobe, cable TV, hairdryer and serviced daily We met our hosts at breakfast time and were shown around the facilities which include a self service bar, lounge area and outside a hot tub and sauna. Breakfast is typically the Austrian continental style with a good range of cereals, boiled eggs, yoghurts, fresh fruit salad, ham salami cheeses bread rolls and even homemade Guglhupf cake (thank you Oma!) The owner spoke enough English for us to communicate adequately during our stay and both he and his wife did everything to make our stay an enjoyable one. The location is beautiful though it is a little way to get to the nearest restaurants for a meal. Ideally you are better off with your own transport if staying here, though it's not essential as there are local taxis and the village has a rail station with a reasonably frequent service. Overall we enjoyed our week's stay and I would be happy to stay here again in the future.
