Hotel Willms

We have just returned from a December January 4 week stay at the enchanting Hotel Willms The amazing new Fleckalbahn ski lift opened on our day of arrival This lift zips one to the top in only 8 minutes Our only disappointment with it, is that the Architects forgot to include a Restaurant /Cafeteria in their design for the base area, where they have the Ticket offices and a huge Intersport Hire shop Every Gondola station in the Alps has a Restaurant/Cafeteria at the base Except Kirchberg !!!!!!!! Apart from that negative point, the Kirchberg slopes were in perfect condition, especially during the period from 14 December up to Christmas As in previous years, there had been good early snowfalls and the slopes were very empty during this pre Christmas period Another excellent point this year is that the Kitzski group have replaced most of the old Snow Canons ( as still used in all the other European ski resorts) with their brand new style of Snow Canon These produce real snow whereas all the older ones, simply produce tiny particles of frozen ice They leave the new Canons running all night and each morning, it seems as if we have had a proper snowfall overnight Yes they produce real powdery snow! The ski buses this year were also far more frequent and were operating every 20 minutes Many of the Kitzbuehel skiers would come to the Fleckalmbahn Lift each day as there is now no queuing time ( queuing time in Kitzbuehel at the Hannenkam lift is daily between 1 and 2 hours) The Willms itself shines still like a star in the Alpine sky The hotel, the food, the ambiance, the Spa are all without reproach I think this was our 5th or 6th visit to the Willms and we are so pleased, we have booked to return in 5 weeks time ( thus allowing our ski legs to relax before our next leisurely skiing down the slopes)
