Apart Avenzio

We had originally wanted stay at a hotel, but we were on a tight budget, so we opted for an apartment here instead. It was great! The rooms were big and comfortable and the whole apartment was spacious in general. The owners were friendly and helpful, and just around the corner if anything was needed. A fuse blew one evening during our stay and it was taken care of quickly and immediately. The location seemed rather remote and the steep climb left us wondering at first, but we quickly got used to the narrow mountain roads. There is a nice fenced playground just up the road that was great for playing in the evenings after the day's activities. A stream can be heard in the distance from the small terrace area in the front of the apartment which is lovely for morning coffee and a book. We were given loads of information about the area when we arrived and lots of tips about the best activities and places to go with kids. We had no language problems as the owners speak English and most shop owners speak or understand a good amount of English. We felt so at home in our apartment that we didn't want to go home! We would definitely choose Kappl again for a stay in this area. It was the nicest village in the valley for families. Sunny Mountain Resort just above Kappl had the best children's play area around, including a skipping stone area and a petting zoo, and there were parks and playgrounds almost everywhere we went. Gondolas, chairlifts and cable cars throughout the valley are free during a summer stay, thanks to the Silvretta Card, which the owners provided for us. Local pools and swimming lakes are also free with the card. Daily guided hikes are available through the tourism office, and several are family-friendly. Kappl Intersport was a great place to stop for anything you need before taking on the mountain. We outfitted the kids with hiking shoes at a great value and had a hassle-free replacement when there was a problem with one of the shoes. At Apart Avenzio, each apartment has its own parking space. The kitchen is well-supplied, the beds are comfortable and everything is super clean. Separating recycling and garbage is a must, so be prepared to walk a few extra steps to the various bins, which are all outdoors. A few English news channels are available via satellite tv, but any kids shows have to be watched in German. Our kids didn't mind and even picked up a few new words. Now, a month later, our kids still make-believe they're in Kappl at the apartment, on a chairlift, at a certain playground or on a hike. We all had such a good time that I'm sure we'll be back!
