We are here to visit my sister who has lived in the area for more than 25 years now. What a pleasant surprise that there is now this beautiful hotel just a few minutes walk from her home! The Alter Winzerkeller used to be an old wine cellar built in the 1800's. It took three years for the owner to transform it to that it is today - a modern, airy, and homey 6 room hotel plus a separate two story apartment for a family of four. We are staying in this two bedroom apartment and it just like having our own home in Kirchberg! The beds are comfortable and there is a lot of room for us and our boys to move around. There's a shower on each floor, and the WC is by the foyer. Breakfast is typical continental style with fresh you can boil to perfection, locally baked bread, fresh local jams and marmalades, cold cuts, assorted cheeses, and hot and cold beverages. Breakfast is served in the great room. And in this great room is the old grape press built in 1824, the star at the Alter Winzerkeller in Kirchberg am Wagram.
