Versettla

Every year I go skiing in Austria for a week with friends. And every year we select another ski area to visit & try out. This year is was the Montofon ski area in Austria. We had booked the Versettla Aparthotel in Gaschurn. My first impressions was that it was an average looking place at the end of a longish winding road up the hill. However my impressions positively changed the longer I stayed. While the decor, building & rooms are dated, the view over Gaschurn and the surrounding mountains is great. What also impressed all 11 of us in our ski group was the level of service and the quality of the food. Every night we had a four course dinner with a choice of 3 main dishes. The quality of the cooking was excellent and the service also. Breakfast consisted of a standard buffet which again was plentiful and of a high standard. As stated the hotel was at the end of 2 +km road. However the hotel provided a shuttle service to the lift station in the valley below. When returning at night it was possible to ski to the hotel from above or you could ring and the small shuttle van would collect you from the ski lift station. All of us were of the same opinion that for €70 /night the hotel presents as excellent value for groups large and small wishing to ski in the montofon area. I would highly recommend it for enthusiastic skier or mountain trekkers.
