Gasthaus Auwirt

Stayed at this lovely Hotel Auwirt in Jan 2017. Large comfortable bedrooms, some larger than others but adequate. The rooms are excessively furnished, to cater for people who do not spend their money in the bar, mainly the Poles seem to take their own food and drinks to their rooms, which seemed to be acceptable to the owner, but that’s fine for us as we never had trouble finding seats in the bar area after dinner. Dinner is served early from 17:00 – 19:00, a little too early for us brits. 20:00 would be more suitable. The last skibus from the slopes is just after 17:00 so we were getting back in time to continue with a bit more apres ski and still be in time for dinner at 19:00. The restaurant is open to no- residents so they do serve later. The food is a mix of Austrian and Polish cuisine which is tasty and the portions are generous. Served in either the main Restaurant which dates back some 600 years, or more modern in the bar area. The hotel was refurbished and has been done to a high standard. I’m British of post WW2 Polish parents, so I was able to practise my now broken Polish language skills. The hotel owner/manager was in attendance at all times and was able to ‘fix’ any issues with immediate effect. The shared kettle facility was a bit novel to us as some guests hung on to theirs preventing others from using them. The Staff were very efficient and courteous without being intrusive and are a credit to the hotel owner. We taught the owner and bar staff how to serve beer English style (full glass  ) All in all, this was an excellent find.
