We stayed one night here and would gladly have stayed several. Location is great: right next to bike path along the river, about 3.5 miles from downtown Salzburg. The room was super comfortable and really nicely set up, and the eating arrangements looked great. Really nice place!!

Quiet, nice place just outside of Salzburg

We chose to stay here purely because we were visiting friends who lived in Elsbethen so from that point of view, the location was ideal as it was within walking distance of our friends. However we did walk into Salzburg (town) & it was a leisurely 1hr 20min walk, mostly along the river which was nice. It's just over a 5 minute walk from the bus stop where you can get the bus into town (cost 2.50 Eur per person). Near the bus stop is also 2 large supermarkets.

The gasthof is a little dated but had all the essentials for a short city break, namely clean comfortable beds, a hot shower & plenty of central heating. The beds are slightly on the firmer side but still conformable & the shower temperature was a bit patchy at times but nothing was bad enough to ruin the stay. There was a hairdryer in the bathroom along with soap (no fancy toiletries here!).

Breakfast at the weekend seemed more comprehensive as there was fruit & Nutella however the rest of the days were the regular continental breakfast of cheeses, ham, lovely fresh bread rolls, jams & yoghurt. You each get your own pot of fresh tea or coffee. You can also request a boiled egg too (which will be done from scratch so there's a small wait). There's not a huge selection but enough for breakfast.

As we went in December when it was snowing, the restaurant area & bedrooms were VERY warm, to the point where we had the window open at times. But better than being too cold I guess!

Clean cosy guesthouse in Elsbethen

Good rooms for a very reasonable price. We extended our stay.
The location is great for anyone who has a car and wants to travel around Salzburg.
Staff in the guesthouse and in the restaurant were lovely.
Room was great. Comfortable and tidy. Could be a little cleaner, but nothing major.
Also the wifi doesn't work all the time in the room.

Good value for money

Located 3.5 miles outside of Salzburg, just off the A8, near a river and a rural setting make this a great place to stay. The road into Salzburg is easy and relatively moderate traffic is the norm. There is a full restaurant on site so that is nice if you want to escape the crowds of Salzburg at the end of the day. Plenty of parking and there is a nice walking/biking trail along the river. The room was clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay again.

Great Location for Your Visit to Salzburg

Stayed here for just a night but absolutely loved the place.. its this adorable little place away from town...something about the place gives you this warm, cozy homelike feeling... the staff is very helpful and friendly... the breakfast was a traditional austrian buffet which tasted so good that I ended up overeating...surrounded by greenery its a pleasure to walk to the hotel or wake up to greenery in the morning...the only drawback is that it is away from Salzburg city but you have buses outside the hotel that take you to town... else if you rent a car (unlike most places) parking is free... would have loved to extend my stay if i wasnt leaving salzburg but will definitely recommend this place if you plan to explore Salzburg

Quanit, cozy and warm- makes you feel at home

I spent a weekend at the Gasthaus Uberfuhr with my family. It is located in the countryside, so it is very quiet. The room were large, comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was great. We also had lunch and dinner and the food was superb. There is also a playground for kids, and this is certainly a plus if you travel with kids. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would definitely visit again.
