Landgasthof Mayr

What a lovely place ! Visited a few years ago when attending a wedding there, most guests in traditional Austrian style but a very lively party and everyone was super nice to the people who came from afar - really keen to make them welcome. Going back now I see still the same excellent food, typical yet with a thoughtful and modern twist and staying in the restaurant and bar section one is immediately part of the community. Amazing. Yes, rooms are not exactely stylish, but the entire family run concept is something different alltogether and it's completely unique in that way. Great to take some time off, enjoy the fabulous views over these fantastic green hills and just enjoy the slow life. Take a walk, great trecks everywhere or a stroll through Steyr.. just to make space for some more glorious food. And yes, there's still a lot of smoking going on, but this is still normal in Austria :-) Non-smoking legislation is on it's way though, will be curious to see how this will impact that lively crowd discussing life at Landgasthof Mayr then in a few years (2017 I think?)
