Hotel Winkler-Tuschnig

We have just came back from Weissensee, where we have spent 3 nights at Pension & Ferienhaus Winkler-Tuschnig. The pension and family appartments are run by familiy Winkler, all 3 familiy members do everything possible to make guests happy. Our welcome was very warm, we got twin bed room at the 3rd floor (there is no elevator) with fascinate view on the lake Weissensee and beautiful mountain landscape. The house offers in summer only breakfast, which is very rich/abundant, private beach which is very close to the pension (aprox.50 meters), some bikes (free) and rowing boats (2,00 EUR/hour). If you have kids, this is the right place for you, because they will be very busy on the pension's playground near the house and on the beach. The only deficit is language, everything is written in german (signs, brochures & maps, menus in the pub, general information for tourists), so make sure and learn some german expressions!! Between the houses and beach there is walking promenade, also good for jogging, nordic walk and cycling and encircle the west lake bank. Village's name, where pension and appartmens are is Gatschach, other small villages on the lake shore are Techendorg, Oberdorf, Naggl and Neusach. You don't need car, beacause villages are small and close to each other, there are lots of cafes, good restaurants, pizzeria's,shops, tourist information center,... We recommend to each traveler to have a ship cruise along the lake and take the chair lift to Nagel Alm where you will be astonished by wonderful panorama view over the entire lake vally. Have a nice time on the Weissensee (in english white lake) in pension Winkler....Sandra & Norman
