Almresort Baumschlagerberg

Having known this place since the late sixties, while it was a quite nice but simple mountain farm cum restaurant with a few rooms, we had to come back after all this time, once I saw the recent and new developments on the internet. My wife and I spent three nights recently and wished we had allotted more time for our stay. From the lovely renovated but authentic guest rooms, to the very modern Wellness area, infinity pool and great cuisine, nothing was missing, especially when you added the view from there: the chain of mountains of the Garstner Valley are right in your face, set off against a backdrop of lush green pastures with cattle happily grazing all around you. The fresh milk and butter and some jams for your breakfast table come direct from this working farm! The resort itself is very modern, while still retaining the local character of a working farm, the rooms are comfortable and the food is excellent. Your location, while about a half an hour drive away from the next larger town, Windischgarsten, is still a great place to plan some hikes and visits to the very interesting areas in the surrounding hills and valleys; too many destinations nearby, to list them all. And even if you are not a serious climber, a trip up to the Linzerhaus, via a comfortable ''mountain railway'' is a must if you are in the region.
