An absolutely fantastic stay at Swan Lake. The hosts made us feel like family. Knowledgeable about the area and enjoyed having a few laughs. The room was exceptional, clean with the best view. We will definitely be back AAA

I checked into Swan Lake guest house located right next to Swan Lake and just down from the Phillip Island penguin parade. Bernadette is a lovely host warm on conversation, friendly and with great attention to detail in everything she does. She even ironed my shirt (I didn’t ask really!). Great walk to lake for nature experience (birds, wallabies etc). Comfortable bed and room. Highly recommend! 

A great place to stay for a trip to Phillip Island. Swan Lake Guest House is walking distance to the Penguin Parade and a short drive to a lot of the other landmarks. We were warmly welcomed and our room was comfortable. Watching the wallabies from our balcony in the evening was a nice extra.

We stayed here 1 night.  Excellent views from our room. The room was small in size but comfortable, clean & quiet with a small TV.  Good free Wifi reception & free parking.  Continental breakfast was included with cheese, ham, tomatos & fruit.  The owner Bernadette made a special trip into town to buy soy milk for me as I am lactose intolerant. However we did experience some disappointment. We arrived at the locked gate around 1.30pm after a long drive from Bendigo. We knew the check in time was 3pm but we thought perhaps we could sit in the lounge until our room was ready. We phoned Bernadette who informed us firmly we wouldn’t be admitted until 3pm. That did not leave us much time to settle in & unpack as we had booked a tour at 4pm to see the Penguin Parade on that afternoon.  This was very disappointing as we have travelled extensively & in similar circumstances we have at least been able to sit & wait in the lounge until our room was ready. BTW, this guess house is about half an hour’s drive to CBD & restaurants.

This is a very warm and homely, B&B type experience. The hosts are very experienced and went out of their way to make us comfortable. The bedroom is designed to be fairly basic but comfortable sleeping space, however the large and inviting lounge area is very much part of their hospitality that guests are encouraged to use. The views and grounds are a real highlight of the property. This would suit people looking for a personal, B&B experience hosted by owner/occupiers. Thank you for your hospitality.

A personal touch

Beautiful place with great views and host

This is a beautiful house with multiple rooms. Owner is lovely. Very friendly. Penguins are a 1km walk, very close to nobbies lookout (water hole) Red Rock beach (Free BBQs), Smith's beach, go karts at the GP track. amaze'n'things, seal rock by boat the the jetty $85 cheaper for RACV member, pensioner discount and children. Take a trip to the chocolate factory in the way to Cowes Be sure to leave early as busy times roads are crazy.

Visiting Phillip Island to watch the Penguin parade.  Location is within walking distance to attraction.  Beautiful views.  This is a guest house not a hotel.  Individual rooms with their own bathrooms. The family lives in a house adjacent to the guest house. Friendly service.  Restaurants and town are a few miles away on two lane country roads.  The bedroom we had was large with its own sliding glass door to outside.  There was outside sitting area.  The lobby is on 2nd floor with beautiful views of the bay.  The breakfast provided was good.  Toast, cheese, warm croissants, condiments, fresh fruit (watermelon & grapes) coffee and juice served with a smile and friendly conversation.  We visited in autumn, the off season.  The room we were in could use an additional chair and table inside.  We could hear the guest in the room above us moving around.   The gate to the guest house is next to swan lake.  The gate opened at 3. You drive a gravel driveway and park on grass in front of house.  Overall a Plesant stay.

Walking distance to penguin parade

We stayed for one night while visiting Philip Island and enjoyed our stay a lot. The location was great, easy to get to Cowes town, the Penguin Parade and other Phillip Island attractions and adjacent to Swan Lake, which is beautiful and well worth a visit. The 'Music Room' was large and very comfortable, with a nice view and parking was easy.. We really enjoyed chatting with Bernadette, one of the owners who made us very welcome and was a mine of useful information. We would certainly stay again if visiting the area and thoroughly recommend the hotel.

Very comfortable, perfect for penguin parade

A well set out and nicely appointed set up with large open plan breakfasting, and multiple sitting areas.  Our room was nicely laid out with lots of space, with large comfortable bed, and the bathroom well appointed.  The reason for going is that this is the closest accommodation to the Philip Island penguins.  As well as this ‘must see’ display, there is other local wildlife both at the adjacent Swan lake itself and just outside the window with an eagle hunting on the open grass out front in the morning.

Bernadette and her husband were amazing hosts!  My family had been on a 2-week journey along the coast and stayed here.  Unfortunately, our tight schedule only allowed us to remain at the Swan Lake House for 12 hours.  We were going to miss the wonderful breakfast b/c of an early departure time.  Bernadette went out of her way and went to the store to purchase food for our travels.  She bought enough treats to satisfy our family for days.  It was incredibly generous.  In addition to that, she rearranged the room we were staying in for maximum comfort for all 4 of us.  The view was incomparable to any other place on the island.  Being away from the big cities, the stars were so bright and lovely.  It was also only a 5-minute drive to the penguin parade.  We cannot recommend their services more.

Hostess went Above and Beyond

We had a wonderful and pleasant stay at Swan Lake Guest House. Bernie is very welcoming, helpful and accommodating, she gives you recommendations on the local area and even for Melbourne City :) The room is kept clean with a large bathtub. Views are beautiful and location is very convenient, super close to penguin parade.

The place to stay at Phillip Island

We were made to feel welcome throughout our stay.  Received lots of help on directions and places to visit.  The room was very nice, clean and spacious.  In the morning there was a kangaroo outside - beautiful site. Breakfast was lovely with cereal, toast, ham, cheese and fruit.  Overall a lovely place to stay.
