I have been staying in that hostel 4 nights, and let me tell you that it is a pretty good hostel. The new owners clearly made it a good place to stay. The staff is very friendly and nice. The showers are clean, the kitchen too. The rooms are cleaned twice a week, so you won't be sleeping in the dirt. The AirCon is working well. You have free WIFI, free pool table, two huge TV, the most confortable sofas ever, and a nice sound system. You might be bothered by the music sometimes, but after 11 pm, it is quiet. 

The previous reviews are not fair now, considering the fact they made a big change. It is a place where you can easily socialize, as outside the rooms, you find a huge common aera. So, just drop yourself there, and enjoy.

Very good hostel.

Toilets and showers on the 2nd floor are clean when I stayed there. There are no private toilets nor is there air-con and constant noise outside the window throughout the night. Very average hostel. Good for one night stays. Not recommended for long stays.

Cheapest in high season

This is the first hostel I've ever been to..since February they changed management so you don't have to take into account any reviews written before..the hostel is a great place and as a first experience I couldn't ask for better, the staff is very friendly, available at any time!The cleaning is done every day, the bathrooms are kept better than I expected!free Wifi, laundry, well equipped kitchen, clean and ordered rooms with personal cupboards, 2 minutes from the center..in conclusion: CONTENTISSIMA!!

This backpacker is one of the worst accomodations I've ever stayed in.
The room was smelly and dirty. Weird guests everywhere in this backpacker. I booked here for 5 nights, but I cancelled it because it was too dangerous! Bathroom is filthy. Reception is rude. If you don't want to have horrible experience, you should avoid here.

The hostel is a sleazy place. Dirty and old fashion with weird guests. Couldn't lock our room. Told the problem to the staff of the reception but neither they repaired it nor give us another room.  As we came back in the evening our backpacks have been stolen but the manager of the hostel didn't care. Of course nobody has seen something. Didn't get any compensation or apologise.

The bed in room 14 is comfortable but the staff are u professional and rude.  The reception was supposed to open at 8am but no one turned up until another guest went to knock on the lady's door.  When she finally arrived her excuse was sorry it was a morning that I didn't want to get out of bed.  What?  I missed a train as she didn't want to go to work.  
The bathrooms are filthy and the men's was unusable. 
Will. Not be returning.  The towels are an additional $1 and there is a $10 key deposit. 

Dirty and unprofessional 

The hostel is absolutely not to be recommended, because we were lucky enough to have a completely decrepit and stinking 8 rooms. The guests are apparently mostly construction workers and they have settled there properly accordingly. So there is of course no special hostel feeling and also little celebration. The hostel's facilities are quite acceptable, there is an inner courtyard, two kitchens and separate bathrooms. On the other hand, you can't talk about cleanliness, because in the shower, for example, there were BUSY CONDOMS and it's apparently not often cleaned otherwise. We paid about 30 dollars a night (8 rooms) and that was really an embarrassment for the hostel!

From stench to used condoms in the shower

We stayed here for a week. Although the kitchen is not the nicest, but you have everything you need to cook (you already had hostels that didn't even have pans or pots). The bathroom is really ugly and it's not cleaned properly. But it's also enough to use the toilet, brush your teeth and shower. It depends of course on what you want to do in the hostel. We were on the road all day and we were late at night to sleep and the morning after the shower we were on the road again. And as I said to sleep fine...

The Backpackers Inn Freo is recommended by Lonely Planet, which has caused quite a bit of surprise when they checked in. This YHA is a disaster. Dirty, unattended, broken, unpleasant audience. No way to sleep here, there are certainly other options in Fremantle. We had a family room with air conditioning, yet sleeping was almost impossible. Until 2 a.m. various drunk guests were running around and banging themselves in the community room (thank God none of us had to go to the bathroom at that time). The mattresses were tidy and the covers were not completely clean - in no way a place for people with dust allergies. The kitchen is awful, everything is dirty and dirty - ruined away.

Never again... the hostel has come down and a tribute to all those who occasionally shower, go to the bathroom, or want to clean their toothbrushes. The whole hostel, the rooms, the beds, everything is very tidy and in a desolate state. The cake and everything to do with it, tables, dishes, etc. is useless. The weekly cleaning is done by two sensitively requested walkers in the sixties and is pointless like a body. I watched this morning as one of these cleaningmen with the broom he uses for all, yes all areas, sometimes even the THA tables. This is just one example of the unnecessary hygiene of the hostel.
