Authenticity Spa Resort

There is a charming quirkiness about Authenticity. Even before you go through the Victorian portico at the front door, you can sense something unusual. Once over the threshold, you are cast back in time to the 1850's when the house was built. A high ceiling hall awaits with polished wooden floors and the sight of the first of the enormous wooden period furniture and interesting art work which adorn every room. Our bedroom was huge, with a big brass bed and tasteful period pieces. The large fireplace had been boarded up and there was a huge mirror hung over the mantle, which was so high that I could only see the top of my head in it if I stood on tip toes! We had a spacious bathroom with modern fittings and a double shower. Plenty of clean towels and linen. There were bursts of esoteric music wafting through the house, in all the public rooms. This Indian style music would be my only complaint as I could hear it as I lay in bed and it woke me early in the morning. Apart from that very minor irritant, Authenticity is a sea of calm and tranquility. The breakfast was wonderful, two perfectly poached eggs on smashed avo on rye, sprinkled with turmeric and dukka. I shall definitely be borrowing that recipe idea! The house is so interesting that we stayed longer than intended and walked around the grounds to take it all in. The cafe is open to the public and the menu interesting and all organic. We really enjoyed our stay at Authenticity and will be recommending it to anyone who wants a charming and character full break in Port Elliot.
