Lords Lodge

The staff were great at responding to my emails and very helpful. It is very laid back and you're pretty much left to your own devices. The building is a gorgeous big house turned into a hostel and is 8 mins walk from Prehan station (30 mins from the centre) with trams and buses running late. The front door has a key code but the rooms are unlocked. However, there are lockers free for use and the place did feel safe (whatever that "feeling" is worth, it had a good vibe). There is a garden, kitchen and BBQ area with free tea and coffee. This is definitely the friendliest atmosphere I have been in hostel wise, with people saying hello and being generally friendly and chatty as I had expected but not necessarily seen on previous hostels. The bed was standard and comfy with clean linen and a plug socket for the top bunk which was ace! It has a very bohemian feel and is the kind of place that doesn't try to be anything, just has natural charm and character with a friendly and creative feel. Loved the posters (Beatles, always a win). Bathrooms were simple and clean. Wi-Fi was great too. I would have loved to have stayed longer and I am sure I would have met some amazing people. The only downside was that the room did get very hot, but we had a fan in the room. Very much worth the money and I am glad it was recommended to me.
