Without A/C the room was very breezy with the ceiling fan which was quiet. Common kitchen area & balconies were nice. A bit deceiving was the room ads-noticed it was a "shared bathroom" (which I would not have booked) then I saw a room that didn't have this description & I booked believing it has a bathroom. Please make every room clear. However, they were beautiful and clean (just redone).  A lovely stay : )

Room was generous in size. Communal bathroom was clean and tidy.

Wonderful historic country pub, on river in centres of town. Friendly and helpful staff and great dining menu.

The Maclean Hotel is full of old world charm and was a great location to stay in the middle of town and on the river front. Our room, a Standard Queen was clean, comfortable and very affordable over a long weekend. The shared bathrooms are thoroughly modern and very clean. A guest laundry, kitchen with a fridge and a small dining/ lounge is provided on the accommodation level which is upstairs over the hotel below. (NB there is no lift - not a problem for me but could be an issue for others). We dined in the hotel and the meals were affordable and delicious. Staff were courteous and very helpful. I have only have 2 suggestions- a bedside lamp and the addition of drapes to the window to reduce the early morning sun. I would strongly recommend a visit to the Maclean Hotel.

I only stayed one night, but it was a good experience.  The rooms are in the pub and there are shared facilities.  Everything was very clean and neat and felt quite safe.  Check-in was pretty casual and smooth.It's an older building and the rooms are basic, with the usual mini bar etc., the single beds were neat and clean.  No AC, but I found that the fan was enough.  No complaints here.

We have returned again.
Finally with a large group of friends. The service and food couldn’t have been better. Great place. We love the back deck overlooking the Clarence river. Greg and julie in the bar were fantastic, very accommodating. All
Of the meals were sensational. Steaks were sublime, I had the 300g scotch fillet with garlic prawn topper. Couldn’t fault the dish at all. 3 other raved all night about the barramundi. Some of the best they have had in aus. Our friends from NZ really liked the garlic prawns and the pasta of the day. Great work maclean hotel

The property was so clean and neat.  Staff helpful and assisting. Plenty of provisions provided.

We stayed one night at this place. The room was simple but worth the money spent, offering great value. The bar and food options were a nice touch, making everything easy and convenient. While the bathrooms are shared, they were clean and well-maintained, so it wasn’t an issue. The room we stayed in was next to the balcony, where some guests were gathered, so there was a bit of noise even after 10 PM. Additionally, the balcony lights shone directly into our room through the window, which could be improved for better comfort.Overall, a good place for a short stay—comfortable.

Thankyou for our beautiful stay at your hotel over the christmas period. The room was comfortable and lovely, and the freshly updated bathrooms and amenties were fantastic. The food looked amazing and well priced. My only regret we couldn't stay longer. Beautiful main street and river to explore. Not far to Yamba for a beach swim.

Excellent and the place was packed.

Beautiful old country pub with standard front bar / sports bar + indoor and outdoor deck dining. Very popular, although from what I could gather the only pub in town. Friendly service and standard pub meal options in the food department. My wife extremely happy with the sirloin and my crumbed lamp chops were good.

Stayed nearby over new years 2022-3.  We ate here most nights and tried many of the choices on the menu. All were good. The staff worked hard and were lovely and helpful. The chef was great. Worth a visit if you are around. Main meals are large but you can get smaller pizzas if needed and kids meals were great

Try this one for value and service

I dined here recently after looking for somewhere to have lunch. My table ordered Barramundi, Mash and Veg & Chicken Schnitzel Mash & Veg. The pub itself is nothing much to look at inside and somewhat a little tired but they have a good selection of meals and at reasonable prices. We were there right at peak lunch time and  the meals came out promptly even though they were quite busy. The  staff were efficient and neither rude nor friendly. The meals were of a good size for lunch and there is plenty of both indoor and  outdoor dining. The outdoor dining overlooks the river which is very nice but it's a shame that the view is somewhat blocked by the rear of the hardware store next door, but there is a partial view which still made it pleasant. Overall this was a very nice meal and a relaxing stop off for lunch and I will visit again.

Good Pub Grub!

Absolutely loved our meal here. Both our meals (burger and steak) were delicious and perfectly cooked, as was the garlic bread. The atmosphere was great, sitting outdoors was comfortable, enjoyable, and gave us a lovely view of the river. The staff were extremely friendly and polite. Really enjoyed our time at the Maclean Hotel, would definitely return.
