Tandara Hotel Motel

Actually in Triabunna. Great hosts, room very clean and cheap but had everything we needed including comfy bed and great shower. Within walking distance of town centre, IGA and cafes etc.  Easy to find on main highway but set back and quiet. Ate in bistro and had beef in red wine, veg and mash and fish and chips. Deserts looked great but too full to try them. Def recommend to stay whilst travelling.

      For a couple of days away we booked into the Tandara Hotel Motel in Triabunna. There were three of us in the group and we booked accordingly. On arrival we were greeted most warmly, given the keys to the two bedroom apartment which was well set out and very clean and given everything we needed for breakfast the next morning. Everything the weary traveler needs. Even plenty of parking.
      We had no trouble with the warmth, and even though the Hotel Motel is on the Tasman Highway there was never any issue with road noise. The hotel offers very good reasonably priced dinners in the lounge in the hotel. So if you are looking for some "good old Aussie" socializing in front of the warm fire in the hotel lounge with friendly people then I thoroughly recommend you plan a stay at the Tandara Hotel Motel.

A great room.  Great bed and very quiet.  The food at the restaurant was delicious.  The only problem we had was getting good quality wi-fi in our room, it could have just been the area where our room was located.   The room was very clean.  We were there two nights.  It wasn’t far from the shopping area where there was an excellent laundromat as well.

We went to the Tandara Motor Inn for a meal, and we were not disappointed. We walked to the hotel, and upon entering the bistro, we were met by a very pleasant young woman who showed us to our table. She explained the specials, took our drink orders, and then left us to decide on what we were having, she is a good asset to the hotel.

Our meals were large and very tasty, and we rated them highly. 

We would certainly recommend this bistro to all, and we were lucky not to be put off by the other review.

We stayed there for two nights it was a nice place to stay but the meals were very nice and I would recommend it to anyone well worth the money and the staff were really friendly will stay there again and definitely eat the meals there next time we are in the area big nice place to visit 

We stayed here for one night. The motel is just off the main road about a 10 minute walk from the little town and harbour with its ferry to Maria Island. It provides standard, clean motel accommodation in a room with tea and coffee making facilities, microwave, a bathroom with walk in shower and parking outside the room. There was a portable fan for cooling. We couldn’t hear any road noise from our room. Breakfast was provided in a dining room with cereals, bread for toasting, hot drinks and juice.

This place is in Triabunna, which is 30km south of Swansea..  Most annoying to a traveller of any age.  I had to give a rating, to write this.  But I never stayed there in the end.  Triabunna is the port from which the ferry runs ove to Maria Island - that’s a day away worthwhile.  There are no food shops on Maria Island, but you can hire a bike to do the track south

Mis-led traveller

I have just bought a property in the area and we thought we would enjoy a Sunday lunch here. I checked the website for details. Yes looked good with $10 meals and an extensive further menu. Arrived at 12.50pm. The car park which is huge, only had 2 cars in it. Not a good sign. Walked into the bistro... no one there!  saw a bar staff and asked if there was lunch available. He said yes and directed us into another bar and dinning area beside the bottle shop. There were 2 people at the bar and 2 people already eating what looked like a pizza. We ordered a drink. I had a brandy and coke. The barman used the last drops out of an already opened large bottle of coke... It was flat and horrible.  I asked about the $10 lunch menu... he didn't know and had to ask kitchen. No it was not available! We looked at menu and blackboard menu. We decided on a medium meat lovers pizza and a large BBQ chicken one.  30 mins later they arrived!!.. By this stage the 2 people at the bar had left and the other diners were just about to leave.. The bases on the pizza were gluggy and half cooked. The BBQ chicken had bacon on it and a few tiny pieces of chicken.. we queried that fact... The barman checked with the kitchen again  and we  were told of BBQ chicken comes with bacon!! Too bad if you didn't want it or like it. The meat lovers had a good amount of ham, ? small amount of salami, a lot of cheese, BBQ sauce... but no chicken!!!
It was such a disappointing meal as we were hungry and interested in supporting the local business.  The actual surroundings were dated, dark. It seems the bottle shop has most of the trade. We won't bother returning here as we have tried other eating establishments with much better service and food. It might be a different atmosphere in winter with fire going but certainly not at moment. Website is not up to date!

The Hi-way going past is the best thing about it! At Triabunna not Swansea!

Warm greeting on arrival. Accomodation very basic, room smelt stale on arrival, poor ventilation, only one window opens but close and convenient for the ferry which is why we were here. Very little to do in Triabunna apart from visit the island
