Fabulous. Gorgeous period home .. Newer units next door. Lovely hosts and their dogs. Breakfast was amazing. Lots of good recommendations for things to see and do in the area. 
Would definitely stay next time we pass through. Highly recommended.

Noel and Neal were great hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. Room was clean and warm. Breakfast was amazing with muffins, croissants and bread, then they asked what we would like to order as well for a hot breakfast. Whatever we didn't eat they then wrapped to take with us for the day.  Good place to stay.

A period house (circa 1850's) which is quite charming with its eclectic decorations. The room was comfortable and contained everything you would need as well as a decanter of port. A bonus was the home made muffins you received on arrival. 
Breakfast was stunning. Quite the best I have tasted in years of travelling over every continent (except Antartica). Even provided us with a doggie bag for the left over bakery products (all home made and superb). 
Highly recommended and we will try and go back there in the not too distant future.

Stayed 1 night on the first day of our Tasmanian holiday.  Great hosts, beautiful rooms (port was a very nice touch), delicious breakfast and we even got to take a couple of muffins with us for morning tea!  Full of character and welcoming atmosphere so would highly recommend.

We stayed two nights as a base to explore Freycinet and Maria Island, and it was definitely an enjoyable stay. The twin room upstairs was comfortable and had all the essentials. The backdoor provided great convenience to the carpark. Other areas had wonderful heritage charm. 

The breakfast was definitely the highlight. The al carte options had amazing variety for starters and mains, and the food was exceptional (perfect eggs and wild mushrooms). Definitely do not need lunch after those superb meals. To add a cherry on top, we were given carry bags for the truckload of pastries to finish for lunch. Thank you Noel and Neil. 

As a small town, Swansea does lack dinner options after dark and walk-ins are especially difficult. So would recommend an early dinner before 6pm or reserve a table.

Noel and Neil are great hosts, the rooms filled with eclectic charm and the whole ambiance of the listed house is wonderfull. The two dogs that rule the house are totally charming and Dougall spends his life getting in trouble for looking for pats and scraps. 

Special mention goes to the breakfast. It is some of the best cooking ….. hands down…. That I have experienced. Noel should go on Master Chef as he would win it.

The lads are great to chat with and nothing is too much trouble for them..

I cannot imagine how you would find fault with this place and what it offers. If you do then it says more about you than the amazing experience you will share in this home.

We are planning a return to base out of this place to better explore the area and Maria island.

This was our 2nd stay at Meredith House. Last visit was 10 years ago and it's still just as good. Stayed in the Mews and they have everything you could need.
The breakfast is absolutely the best we've ever had in a B and B.

At the recommendation of a friend who stays regularly even though he doesn't live far away we booked a night at Meredith House and Mews. Neal and Noel are the best hosts. 

Greeted at the door by Neil who was out watering in the beautoful garden. Upgraded into a gigantic room with an extra bedroom. Handed a plate of muffins that had been freshly baked by Noel.  Super compfy room that had everything we could wish for and more.

We'd been told by our friend that the guys served the best breakfast on the east coast and he was not wrong. Croissants like airships, eggs benedict to die for, fruit salad, more pasties, a doggy bag to take away what we didn't eat. All of the baked goods made in house by Noel. Amazing.

Had the pleasure of booking here by chance having found myself in Swansea (last minute) on business. The building is stunning, location perfect and the hosts are to me, what a B&B truely means. You’re made to feel like a VIP but not in a pretentious way, simply welcomed as a weary traveller. My room Room 2 , was clean/comfy bed and having stayed in countless accomodation, I can honestly say having complimentary port in the room is one of those touches that make this a stand out. Quirky but individual and yes I had a glass! The hosts are personable and really value your business and the lady who served breakfast could not do enough for you. It’s a short walk to town so stagger back  with ease. I liked it so much that when I get the opportunity to take my wife to Tassie we will stay here without question. The breakfast itself was sumptuous!  Variety of juices, cereals and hot food! Unbelievable… truely. I had to read some of the few negative reviews as I couldn’t understand how anybody would not want to stay here ? ‘Outdated decor ‘ !!!!! …..please. To the educated, this means a house built in the mid  1800’s is periodic. It’s got so many great architectural features. Do not believe any poor cleanliness comments… the whole place is spotless. Should you have any concerns Noel and Neal would go out of their way to make your stay pleasant, I am sure of it. Thank you both Gents for a short but really great stay. As a Pom it reminded me a lot of the B&B’s back in Blighty. See you in the near future !

What a place- the room was tremendous like stepping back in time but ultra comfortable.   A great location and we had fantastic views out our windows.   The sitting rooms were great but breakfast is amazing.   An extensive menu put together by Noel was out of this world.    The pasties and croissants were brilliant.   We stayed two nights and it wasn’t enough so we will be back.

A must do on the Tassie east coast

Magnificent service from booking to departure.

Neil and Noel were consummate hosts, I needed to check accessibility before booking and all my questions were answered.

Checkin was super easy we were driving up from Hobart and running a little late, a quick call sorted everything.  Mews 1 was excellent for someone with mobility challenges.  The mews have everything from quality teas to a plunger and pod coffee maker.

On arrival there were two homemade muffins in our room, and knowing we were too late to buy in for breakfast Noel delivered two pastries to tide us over.

Wishing easy walking distance to the RSL, quality meals at reasonable rates, IGA that has everything.  Noel recommended the Waterloo Motel restaurant, what a revelation in 70’s era motel.

Back to the mews, plenty of everything fro towels to soap and cooking appliances if needed.

Hospitality at its best

Our ten days in Tassy (from The West) have been exquisite. But the 2 days we spend in Swansea at Merredith House B&B will not be beaten. These guys, Noel and Neal, have a mortgage on hospitality. From a bike, storytelling and humour to an extra corn waffle under the freshest mushrooms we've tasted in years they could not have done more for us. Our studio room gave us the best sleep so far and it is appointed with the best of the usual to extras like port to a sandwich maker. We are still feeding off the tips Noel has given us about routes and accommodation as we continue our journey. And the breakfasts, well you'll just have to book in to this little Gem to really find out what all THE BUZZ has been about.  Chris and Liz from Mt Hawthorn W.A.

Better than The Reviews

What a pleasure to stay at Heritage Tasmania and National Trust classified home Meredith House. We stayed in the mews & loved the balcony where I sat relaxing, looking over a large old garden. Birds, roses & honeysuckle surrounded me.  Breakfast was amazing, especially 2nd morning when we ate in the sun on the terrace.  So much choice. Neil & Noel (with Dougal & Lulu - Westies) were great hosts & enjoyed spoiling their guests. We would have loved another day to sit in the reading room or have dinner in the dining room (if available). Next time we will stay in the house.  Thank You.
