16 reviewsMy wife and I, plus a single adult daughter and another, with her husband and 9 month grand daughter had a lovely stay in apartment 1. It takes up the whole of the second level of this 1840s building. It was very clean and comfortable. The main bedroom has a walkthrough wardrobe to an en-suite; check out the range of shower heads provided; pressure was best experienced anywhere in the world. The other 2 bedrooms share a bathroom, with a large jacuzzi corner bath and shower, also a washing machine and dryer. A good range of towels and toiletries were supplied. All beds were queen sized with very comfortable mattresses, pillows and doonas. It has a spacious open lounge and kitchen, with a separate dining room and study. A balcony runs the whole length of the back of the apartment, with a large table and bench seats, 2 smaller tables with 2 seats each and a small barbecue; plenty of outdoor private entertainment area. The lounge has a large wall-mounted television with a tuner-amplifier and surround sound speaker. The kitchen was well equipped, with a gas stove, huge oven, large freezer- refrigerator, dish-washer and 2 microwaves. Situated at the upper end of York Street, the building was relatively quiet, with easy walking access to town, cafes and restaurants and the City Park. We were not aware of any noise from the 3 ground floor apartments. Off street parking (not under cover) is provided and a 15 minute parking space outside makes unloading and loading easy. Bookshelves were stocked with a wide range of books, so great for snuggling down for a quiet read. The only possible negatives were the height of the kitchen work-bench island, height of the pull-down European style rails in the walkthrough wardrobe and the basin in the en-suite; which are all designed for tall males. People with mobility issues may have trouble with the entry stairwell. Anyone staying for more than a couple of days would need to arrange for additional toiletries to be supplied, as the apartments are only serviced between occupants.
