Peppermint Ridge Retreat

Peppermint Ridge Retreat has the most beautiful views of any accommodation we've ever stayed in!
It is also peaceful and quiet, with thoughtful and friendly owners.  Comfortable and warm even in the middle of a Tasmanian winter!  Truly a place to relax and explore the surrounding food and wine, with Bruny Island ferry only a few minutes away.  
The friendly chooks and turkeys regularly checked on our welfare and provided commentary on our bread scraps.

What a wonderful location with views of the ocean! To be welcomed with the smell of freshly baked bread was a winner. No stress in terms of basic supplies as breakfast was prepared ready for us to cook the following morning (bacon, eggs, mushrooms and tomato). Tea, coffee, milk, sugar, juice and cereals were all available. Additional items were available for purchase, this included a selection of wines, chocolates, soft drinks. For those looking to relax with a movie, there were plenty of DVDs available to choose from. 

Check in was simple and easy. Direct contact with the owners was helpful as they provided local sites for us to check out.

Being from Darwin, we have found it rather cool in Tasmania, however, the fireplace ready to go upon our arrival was perfect. The house remained warm with little effort thanks to the hay bale design of the house.

We will certainly be back. An amazing stay, just not long enough.

We managed to stay here finally on this trip back to Tasmania after COVID border restrictions were finally lifted.  What a wonderful place to stay, we spent 2 nights here, although the weather was not in our favour, it was such a nice place.  There are 2 eco studios onsite, double story (Mezzanine level)  (2 bedrooms) spacious throughout,  lovely fireplace to snuggle up in front of.  Plenty of wildlife visits.  Large great bathroom with a separate eco composting toilet, different but there is no odour.  Washing machine and dryer located onsite.    Amazing breakfast provisions provided.  When its not foggy the view was amazing, great verandah to enjoy that glass of wine and the  views.
Comfortable beds etc etc.  Could not fault this place.

Great communication, unique and extremely comfortable accommodation in a great location with wonderful views, eco-friendly, fantastic breakfast provisions....wish we could have stayed longer but we will return again. Highly recommended.

Great location both for views and tripping about the area. We used it for a base to enjoy Bruny Island and the Channel area. Views are to die for including waking up to a full view of across the island. Pillows and beds are very comfortable.Kitchen is well equipped and easy to use. Spacious accommodation. Peppermint Bay restaurant (on main road near water) is well worth a visit but only open Thursday to Sunday nights. Need to book at popular with locals. Classy food and great service.Hosts are great, very accommodating and easy to deal with. Will be back. Suggest at least 3 nights.

Beautifully unique eco cabin with amazing views and great creature comforts. The owners attention to detail and care is heart warming.

Everything was outstanding. Just took a while to get used to the Eco toilet but once we did it really made us feel like we are helping the environment. Staying at this property made us feel like we really need to do more for the environment in every way we live.

Just  Wonderful and the View amazing

Wonderful “feel”, gorgeous view, comfy bed. 
Loved the sweet welcoming chickens.
Lovely breakfast supplies, fantastic shower.
Overall the property made you feel at home...and was just what we were looking for.
There was a few things that some may criticise; 
Perhaps knowing about the inside ‘nature toilet’ before booking would have been nice... some of the supplies available to purchase were/are well out of date - (not a terribly safe thing for your business in a litigious society) and doesn’t encourage use.

Great vibe

We really enjoyed our stay at peppermint ridge retreat. We had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. We were a couple and our friend and we had plenty of room. The fire had been prepared and all we had to do was light it. A hearty breakfast hamper is provided and you have all the cooking facilities and condiments you need. The views are stunning and it was wonderful to sit on the deck and enjoy the view from outside. I appreciated that Ben and Michaela cared about providing us with all the correct ways to recycle our rubbish with proper recycling and vegies scraps going to the chickens. Also the extensive mini bar was thoughtful for guests arriving unprepared. I would highly recommend staying here!! Thanks again.

Awesome views in comfortable cabin.

The personal touches to Peppermint Ridge Retreat were outstanding.  From the home made bread ready for breakfast, spa and the fire ready to light when we arrived.  The hosts had all of the little touches perfect and it was a welcome we didn't expect.  I would highly recommend Peppermint Ridge Retreat to anyone travelling in the area :)

A perfect location with outstanding accommodation.

Peppermint Ridge Retreat is a great place for families to feel close to nature.  There is a superb stone fireplace with a pot belly to keep warm and a large open living space with superb views.  The beds are comfy and the place is quiet and private.  We were left a lovely country breakfast to cook ourselves there are a few staples you can purchase if you don’t feel like going out. To stay here, you need a car.

Had a great weekend at Peppermint Ridge - great views of Bruny Island over the water through 6 metre high windows... watched sunrise from our bedon the mezzanine level. Comfortable and welcoming with a lovely ambiance. Great breakfast supplied and wine and Tim tams.  Close to Hobart but feels like your in the middle of the bush.

We didn't want to leave!! Between the spacious apartment, outstanding views from every point in the home, to the freshly baked bread upon our arrival- this home has everything you could need from a trip of one night to 30+. We wish we had booked out more nights, but will definitely be coming back! Beautiful home and location. Is worth the visit.
