Bruny Island Beachside Accommodation

Acting on advice from friends and with no prior knowledge of Bruny Island, we found ourselves at Dennes Beach on the northern tip of the north island of Bruny. Dennes Beach we discovered, is somewhat isolated although a sizeable little village in its own right. Difficulty for us was that we stayed for 2 days in the first week after the Christmas season only to find that the only source of supplies, the local gallery come store, had begun its off-season opening schedule and was closed on the two days of our visit. None -the -less, the accomodation was extremely comfortable and really well designed and equipped for family holidays. The issue of not having a local store to walk to was exacerbated by the fact that the nearest store of any sort was at the ferry terminal, some 11 kilometres of dirt road away. I decided not to walk for the paper each morning! Bad timing for us I suppose, but even if the gallery/store was available I should think that cost wise you would want to buy most of you supplies in the mainland before catching the ferry. Really enjoyed the comfort of Bruny Beachside accomodation, but just felt a little isolated.
