What a cosy little gem! The best smelling cafe EVER according to my son. What a beautiful little find in Geeveston for morning tea. Incredible coffee, hot chocolate and mouth watering buttermilk scones sitting
by the fire - thank-you for a wonderful experience.

What a wonderful little gem this place is. It is positioned well in Geeveston, a wonderful town. There is a pharmacy, supermarket, post office and more. 

Just a small walk away you can take the platypus walk, look closely and you will see them swimming around. 

The manager is Audrey, what a host. Audrey is so accommodating, pleasant and makes you feel very welcomed. 

Sit on the lounge in front of the fire, have a drink at the bar or have an amazing meal (all home cooked). 

The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. This place has everything you need. I highly recommend you spending the time to stay here, even if you’re going through Geeveston, pop in and say hello.

Today we arrived a little late for lunch in Geeveston. The Old Bank said our 2.24pm arrival was too late for them to provide lunch, when they close at 3pm. What the?? Ok, so we went to the bakery down the road. I’m guessing it must have been close to 2.30 & the woman virtually closed that door in our faces. Ok 😜
So we crossed the road to The Bears
They were open till 4pm. Great 👍 
I have to say we were delighted the others were unavailable as we would not have ended up here

It did take a while for lunch to materialise but to be fair he was working alone & I’m not sure he was coping with new guests every 10 minutes. (Prob because others shut)
But trust me, this lunch was worth waiting for & one out of the box. 
Unbelievable seafood chowder- expensive at $30 for the large but worth every cent. We shared with the soup and a $9 toasted sourdough sandwich. Omg. Wished I could return every day for lunch

We rode our bikes around town and were hungry so dropped in. Had poached eggs on spinach and 2 bacon and cheese scones with Pesto. What a sensation. Jan had the sweet potato and red curry pie infused with yogurt pastry. Amazing taste. Juke box was playing 70,s music and Alex was very friendly and explained the meals to us. Highly recommend and it takes some time to make meals as good as this so relax and enjoy it. We did....

If you consider staying, do it.  Good rooms with excellent cleanliness and a terrific cafe restaurant, managed in our visit by a charming and caring fellow who prepared most excellent meals.  The breakfast was as good as many 5-star hotels we have been to.  It is a cozy and traditional room arrangement with North American feel.  Brass beds, wallpaper etc.  
The name is obviously a quirky one, but this does not detract from the comfort that you feel when you walk in.  The fire was on, the drinks are good, and they are served with a great personal touch that was friendy and memorable.

The restaurant is open during the day for lunches, but you can book for an evening meal. The menu is limited, but our party had three different dishes, all prepared to perfection, with love and flair.  Slow cooking a specialty.

Had the best breakfast there. 
Prices started around $14 up to 25 for the breakfast dishes. 
Good serving and very well cooked and presented. 
The fire was going and they had some great music playing. 
Highly recommended this cafe. 

This cafe/ restaurant has atmosphere, good service, and delicious food. What more could you want in Geeveston? It’s open till late which is a bonus in a quiet little town. The chowder was full of chunks of seafood. The lamb shanks were slow cooked on order and were hearty.

This is a very friendly and comfortable accomodation in a very quiet and beautiful town of Geeveston.  

We just finished 9 days on the South West Track and were exhausted and the staff were very understanding and room and beds very comfortable.   We loved the informality combined with the professionalism.  Had a fabulous time.

My wife and I stayed there for 2 nights. Our room was nice but could have done with a small table and 2 chairs. We had a double bed and 2 bunks. Bed and pillows were comfy. Cooked b/fast was included in the tarif. The place was a boutique B and B. But it served evening meals and alcoholic drinks in the comfortable dayroom, cafe, bistro.At night they had a nice fire going in the fireplace. The food they served was of good quality and well presented. Some people might have had to wait longer than they expected, but like everywhere in Australia staff shortages were a problem. All up,our stay was quite enjoyable.

This was a lovely property, very unique, owned by a young couple who have been running it for around 2 years with their lovely little boys. The food was good, but the service was a little too homely, while this was a lovely touch it was also a bit odd, at check in we needed to order breakfast for the next day and a time to eat.The night meal was lovely, good understanding of GF options.

A lovely little bed and breakfast, the staff were quiet friendly and attentive.The decor and whole feel is of a mountain lodge welcoming and cosy. The little touches such as the locally made teddy bears and tiny teddies served with coffee keep true to the theme.In terms of the food we only had breakfast which was included in our stay and it was absolutely delicious especially the mushrooms and the portions were generous.The rooms themselves were in great condition, the bed comfortable and plenty of bedding for cold nights. The location about halfway up the huon valley makes it a great base to explore the surrounding towns and see all that is on offer.We absolutely loved it.

Quaint and Cosy

Was a great little place that we took refuge from due to a storm making it very uncomfortable to camp. Limited menu on the night we stayed but the best seafood chowder we have had in Tassie! Would highly recommend staying here! Was great to sit by the fire for dinner and the included breakfast the next morning.

Quirky little hotel.

Despite the unusual name, don't let that put you off! The 3 guest rooms are beautifully decorated & have new ensuite bathrooms. The new owners are putting in the effort to ensure their property & cafe/tapas bar is successful. Great to see a young family chancing their arm in a rural community & well worth supporting. PS: the scones are perfect!

A small facility in an historic town

I really like Geeveston and the accommodation was adequate. Be prepared that there are very few options for eating out at night or for early breakfast. The platypus walk is however very close by and yes you do see platypus in their natural environment. Close to Tahune Air walk which is also worth doing.
