Charming small country motel offering a comfortable clean room with a beautiful view from a roomy balcony by the river with ducks and local flora.
Friendly greeting and a well kept property. 
All rooms are ground floor with a view. Quiet and a short walk from local business and shops.

An intimate cosy little place. Comfortable, affordable and we didn’t want for anything. The location is wonderful with delightful views overlooking Scilley Island a small nature reserve created by a big lazy loop in the Richardson river.   Easy access to a number of good country pubs with good food and also an excellent cafe ‘Harvest Cafe’ which offers a huge range of fresh good food. Highly recommended.

Welcomed on arrival and provided with suggestions for eating out. Fully equipped with an excellent TV, microwave, cutlery and crockery. Beautiful bedlinen. The patio is great, private and looking onto the little river. Good for enjoying Takeaway meals.

Unbelievable first experience with this motel. Host was so friendly. Room was the best we have been in on our trip. Large bathroom, plenty of bed linen and crockery. The view from our room was so unexpected, river, gum trees and reeds. Will be back.

What a cute place! The balcony overlooking the river is gorgeous and the birdsong in the morning makes your heart glad. The rooms are smallish and old fashioned but very clean and well set up, with a comfortable bed. The owner is very friendly.  A lovely place to stay.

We stayed for 2 nights while doing a self drive silo tour. Very warm welcome on arrival. Found rooms to be very clean, brand new bathrooms, comfy beds, balcony with outdoor setting  overlooking river a bonus. Nice way to relax after a day of touring the area. Abundant bird-life if you are into watching birds. My hubby was in seventh heaven with birds and photography. Breakfast available to your room was delivered promptly and delicious. New owners are very friendly and obliging. Would certainly recommend staying at Riverside if you are in the area. Will certainly stay again if in the area.

Sure, Donald isn’t the biggest town out there, but with a motel like this, you don’t need it to be – it is just so relaxing. It is located right next to the river, and not only that but they have balconies out the back where you can sit and just enjoy the natural surroundings, and the surroundings are certainly really natural. The service was also great, and the rooms were pretty comfortable as well. Yeah, this turned out to be a great place to spend a couple of nights.

I was very pleased I had made Donald my halfway point between Adelaide and Melbourne.  It might have added 50 kms or so to the journey but I enjoyed the scenery and it’s only another 35 kms to Charlton, where you join the Calder Highway, an excellent road to Melbourne.  The motel was pleasantly located, being right next to the Richardson River.  This is kept full of water by a dam further down the watercourse.  Can recommend for a pleasant stay, well maintained and with a helpful, welcoming owner.

A wonderful country get away.

Excellent 

Hidden gem of a motel

View from deck to river was beautiful. Clean, functional room. Good location. Bed hard, pillow too soft. Had tea & coffee making facilities, but if you wanted food had to heat up outside in communal microwave. No plates or utensils. TV, electric blanket, air-con worked, but had trouble working out On button on air-con control. Handy place for a stop over.

A pleasant surprise

Stayed 2 nights in late May as a base for visiting the Silo Art Trail. Clean and tidy room with good heating which was essential during the cold nights. The balcony overlooking the small river lined with beautiful Gum trees and a variety of bird life was quite lovely. Easy walking distance to the town's 2 pubs for dinner. Owners were lovely. Highly recommend if you're visiting the region to see the Silo art, which is a must-see.

Rooms are clean and tidy and noise proof. Even though motel is on main road no noise filters into rooms. There are decks attached to each room which is lovely to sit on over looking a creek watching the sunrise or sunset. Brings contentment to the soul while native bird life fly over head to the bush. Cooked breakfast is great. Rooms clean and tidy. Christine and Mike are excellent hosts, friendly and helpful.

Relaxing and Peacefull

It might have been hot as hell outside but our room at the Riverside was blissfully cool, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. Enjoyed a coldie on the private deck overlooking the river- how good is that ?! Very friendly front of house. We both slept like babies - comfy bed. Lovely to wake to the bird call in the morning and a nice hot cuppa on the deck. Will stay here again - no question !

Every room with a River view !

My mother and I stayed in Donald during a road trip around Victoria. We liked the idea of staying by a river which is why we chose this motel. We were delighted with the room particularly as we had been put in the family room instead of a twin so it was very spacious. The beds were comfortable, there was a small table and a couch to watch the TV on. There was also a balcony overlooking the river. The bathroom was clean and functional. The staff were very friendly.
