The Grand Maldon Apartments

Lovely private accommodation, but in the centre of town.  Spotlessly clean room, lovely and warm.  Very comfortable.  Lovely breakfast provisions included too.  Great value for money, will return again, thanks Dianne and Frank!

Value for money is something we always look for in our weekends away, so with continental breakfast provisions included, the $130 per night tariff made the Apartments on High at The Grand Maldon an easy choice. Hosts, Dianne and Frank, have done a great job in the two years they have been at the helm of what was previously one of the many hotels in Maldon. We were able to secure the ground floor apartment, one of 3, that are situated at the rear of the hotel site. The two smaller apartments have a basic kitchenette, whilst the larger converted stables apartment is more family friendly. Our apartment looked out onto a small courtyard that took in a scene reminiscent of a villa in Provence, with the historic stables building framed by a large and fully loaded lemon tree. With the sunny days we experienced during our short stay it was a delight to sit at the courtyard table setting soaking up the warm winter sun, reading and sipping on a hot coffee. The apartment was well provisioned with a microwave, small fridge, crockery, cutlery and basic kitchen utensils. The accommodation is situated in the middle of Maldon, although when the gift shop is closed you do have to leave via the back and have a little walk to take you back to the main street and all the shops and eateries. Not our first time in Maldon, but we would certainly look to use this accommodation again in the future, especially after Frank described the continued improvements they hope to implement in the near future.

Boutique self contained accommodation complete with the possibility of a fabulous massage facial pedicure or other treat. Neat clean recently renovated accommodation at the back of the old Grand Hotel which is now used for antiques and collectibles. Excellent masseuse too. Thanks Diane and Frank.

The location of the Grand apartments is ideal - it's right in the middle of town. However, there is a problem in that you can't get in and out from the front door. This makes it quite challenging to access the main street, especially at night as you have walk around a back lane which is not well lit - it all could be solved if guests were allowed access via the front door which opens on the main street right in the middle of the action.

Anyway, that aside, the Grand Apartments are good value - the decor is basic but comfortable, the included breakfast is basic but a bonus. Overall it is clean, comfortable and at the lower price point for Maldon.

A Glimpse of Provence in Maldon

Great location, lovely room and hosts

Great find: central location but quiet and newly renovated.

This accommodation  was clean and comfortable tho would suggest they use some jif on the shower base and also clean the sliding door of dirty hand prints.  Breakfast provisions were very nice.  Would have to recommend they provide some shampoo/conditioner and also a hair dryer and a box of tissues as these are standard in most accommodation these days. Warm cosy heating.
