Cascades at Beechworth

We had the pleasure of staying at Bella Vista,Cascades recently. The apartment is a home away from home with all the amenities you could need. Even little touches like coffee for the plunger and tea leaves for a pot of tea. The view over the Gorge from our balcony was stunning, we enjoyed the nightly sunsets while relaxing. Spa bath was great and well sized. BBQ, washing machine and all kitchen conveniences made the holiday so much easier and less costly. There are two flights of stairs to take into consideration. Bella Vista at Cascades will be our number 1 choice when we return to Beexhworth.

We stayed in the Old Brewery section with friends over the Ned Kelly weekend and loved the set up and location right beside Newtown Falls. Elizabeth had the fireplace roaring and the place was toasty warm for our arrival Friday night.
We parked our car and just walked to all the local attractions as it's just a 10 min stroll to the centre of town and the new brewery. 
Cascades also sits on the walking/riding trail from the Gorge scenic trail that takes you to Lake Sambal and onward to Lake Kerford and its only 400m from the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail.

We stayed in the Bella Vista apartment for one night just to get away from it all for a short time.  The apartment and verandah are of a very generous size and quite comfortable.  The kitchen is well setup with everything you need including a small coffee machine so you can really sit back and relax.  The spa bath is an excellent size for 2 people and it is nice to also have another bathroom in the loft bedroom.  This apartment has a lot of positives but also a few negatives. We found the stairs to the loft bedroom quite steep and not very well lit.  Some of the stairs are missing carpet on them and no handrail I actually slipped on one of these stairs and was lucky enough to stop myself from falling down the second section of stairs.  We didn't like the fact that we could only open one door onto the verandah because it was beautiful and cool outside.

Stayed in the  Bella Vista apartment which caters for 2 people with loft bedroom.  The apartment is huge!! The size was a bit daunting at first but it grew on to us. It  has great views of the Gorge from the surrounding balcony . Provided amenities were good especially the local beers. We would stay again and recommend it to others however, there were a few things that need mention. There is no folder with instructions of how things work, most of the down lights in the lounge / dining did not work, there is housing construction going on in the vicinity and the balcony is very dusty, all but on of the doors to the balcony are screwed closed and there is a protruding piece of galvanized tin on the left side of the exit stairs which you need to be careful of (I found out the hard way)

We stayed in the Chevalier Mill House over Easter.  It is nicely set up.  The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen is a really nice space and very well equipped.  The various rooms are good sizes so it has a very comfortable feel.  The courtyard was a great place to sit and read a book or relax, as was the small veranda at the side which looks over the gorge.  Its a pretty easy 5-10 minute walk into town and the various restaurants, shops etc.  The arrangements were easily sorted and the owner had left us with some staples to start the stay, as well as some nice chocolates!
The only thing I would point out is its 2 bedrooms with just one bathroom so you should be aware of that if you are more than one couple, but overall it's a great place to stay in Beechworth.
