Called in at the Western Hotel for lunch with my Grandson and his Girlfriend. We ordered the Quiche and Salad,the Tradies Steak Sandwich,and the mini soft tacos. The food was well presented,and  decent sized servings.
On a par with the best pub meals I have had around Australia,and great value for money.

Hubby and I were worried that we were too late for a meal at lunchtime on our way back to Clyde, but were relieved that we had made it just in time.

Such a pleasant atmosphere and the decor was just lovely.

Hubby ordered the fish and chips with a side salad, which was a decent size and he really enjoyed it
I ordered the chilli prawns with rice and it was absolutely delicious.
Nice and spicy, just how I like it.

Meals and drinks were reasonably priced and the staff were very friendly, welcoming and happy.
The venue itself was really clean and tidy, something that I always notice first.

Highly recommend dining here and we look forward to returning in the future. 

Going out for dinner at the Western Hotel was a great experience. As we walked in we were greeted with a beautiful interior and friendly staff.

The service was fast and the food catered to everyone’s individual dietary requirements and was delicious. 

Highly recommend for families as it was a nice environment and kid friendly. The pub was also in a great location in the centre of town.

Over the last few months, the Western Hotel has delivered both lunch and dinner meals to us. Not only was the food as good as what is served at the Hotel, the staff and delivery has not diminished the quality of the food. I cannot thank you enough. Great regional pub. Well priced and staff are supper friendly and can’t do enough for you. The food was lovely. Supper tasty and large portion sizes. Worth a visit with gas log fires for the winter months. 

We just had one of our regulars deliver whilst self isolating. Could not fault it! Arrived on time, hot, delicious & reasonably priced! A local wine as well. Very happy to support this local, will again & looking forward to eating in when we can!

We ended up at this hotel by a recommendation from another hotel that was booked out so had no idea what it was going to be like as we were just visiting Ballarat. But the moment we walked in all reservations were gone. Modern decor, great service and really yummy food. Call in and give them a go you won't be disappointed.

absolutely lovely place, honest mark (modern day ab Lincoln, has a lovely beard, oils it infrequently, more like a one drip kind of guy) was a lovely host, tom (relatively indifferent but seemed friendly) , jake was happy to go with whatever, locals were friendly and passionate. thank you.

This was an excellent base for exploring Ballarat. On foot it is only 20mins from the centre of town and within 10mins walk there are a range of take away restaurants and shops if you don't feel like a sit down dinner down in the pub below the rooms. The room is equipped with a bed, table, chair, TV and heater - very clean and comfortable. The shared bathroom was good: very hot water for the shower but the old doors requried quite a pull to open from the inside! I had no problems with noise from the pub below during my weekend stay. Would stay there again.

We have now used the Western Hotel  several times for our family celebrations. It has large meals and incredibly good quality food that is suited to both adults and children. We have made it easier by preordering childrens meals to prevent waiting too long on arrival. Loving the  price and selection of Parma and Steak nights during the weeknights. Great atmostphere at dinner times and the outdoor area is fantastic in summer. Would definitely recommend for couples date nights.Staff are so helpful and friendly.  No childrens play area but have colouring available.

Best Pub Meal

A lovely setting with options of an indoor garden area, sports bar, restaurant or bar, with screens in all of them. 
Only some tables had numbers on them, which seemed to make it difficult for the staff to find the right tables, so not sure why all tables didn't have a number or be given a number to make it easier.
The menu was reasonable and mid priced, $25-$30 for most mains. 
The calamari was perfectly cooked. 

Well worth a visit.

Best Family Night Out

I arrived in late afternoon and was made welcome by staff member Jeremy who showed me around, room, shared bathroom facilities etc. 
The Western is a very neat and very tidy pub, the room is just that, a room with a double bed, television and a rack for hanging any clothes as necessary. Don't bother if you want the private facilities you get in a hotel or motel like your own toilet and bathroom etc, (and yes, the Western has a real bath! Bliss! After a long day walking round the city it is the best way to ease the weary bones).
I mentioned  staff member Jeremy earlier mainly cos he booked me in and always seemed to be around when I was ordering dinner, coffee or a drink in the bar. But all the staff were very friendly and helpful.
On the Friday I arrived I had the battered whiting with chips and salad for dinner. It was delicious. On the Saturday I was joined by two friends, one had the battered whiting, I had a curry while the third had salmon and chickpea. I can assure the reader, (if there is one), all three diners were well satisfied. 
There is also a satisfactory range of ales, beers and wines. No complaints from me.
