When exploring Northern Argentina and especially the Quebrada de Humahuaca this is a perfect alternative to expensive Purmamarca. Tilcara is between Humahuaca and the turn off to Purmamarca and the Salinas Grandes. The hotel is a bit outside of Tilcara but that's a 3 min drive. Tilcara is a cute little town. The surrounding mountains are beautiful, why I picked this hotel. The rooms are ok, the fridge top wasn't that clean and the water didn't drain very well in the shower. The light also wasn't that bright in the room. So I wouldn't want to stay here long to relax. We did sleep well. The surroundings of the hotel are really nice though, the bungalows painted pretty and the pool is great too. Makes a good motif for photos. There are 3 lamas in the garden. We missed breakfast as we left early in the morning and the on site restaurant was shut on Dec 25. When checking out in the early morning there was no one there so we just left the key. As said, a good alternative to Purmamarca. For that reason I'd stay here again.
