The hostel is only 2 blocks away from Oroño blvb. which is the street that you wanna go during the day and specially during the night. There's so many things going on there. 
The staff is great, very helpful, really nice people. We had long conversations about many things. I met very interesting people during my stay there and in general I hada  great time. 
Everything was very clean and I loved the terrace! You should try and have an argentinian barbecue there.

Rosario, the city in Argentina I always wanted to visit. Staying in this hostel made it so much more fun! My friend and I decided at the very last moment (which is so normal for Argentinians) to go to Rosario and we chose this hostel. The two owners of the hostel were SO friendly and helpful. We didn’t know the city at all and they told us where to go and what to do. At the evening they invited us to sit with them and talk. In Kalifornia you are sure you will have a nice time! Although there is no breakfast included, there is always coffee and the kitchen is free to use whenever you want. I would definitely go back. Gracias chicos por todo lo que hicieron! We stayed in this hostel for a week in june. Staff was super nice and they spoke english wich was great. Breakfast was served everymorning the time we wanted and they listened what we prefered to have! We had eleven people in our group so we had the 10-bed-doorm and one 2-bed-room in our use.
Atmosphere in the hostel was nice, only minor discomfort was that there were ants in our room (we had some food in the room so it probably was our fault..). 
Location of the hostel was great, there was laundry place right next door and a big supermarket 4 blocks away. It was also very close to the city center and the huge park called Independencia.
Winter time (june/july) is not the best time to visit Rosario and this hostel cos it can get really cold in the night! 
For people who value cheap prices, friendly staff and good location I recommend this hostel for you! But if you like things more clean, nice and warm you should go to a hotel :)

Stayed 3 nights here on the back of half decent reviews. This place has potential. The girl who works there has basic English and is nice but overall a poor experience. 3 power cuts, broken shower and ants all over the kitchen ruined our experience.

There is also a sign on the wall saying keep the noise down after 10pm however this doesn't seem to apply when the owners want to get drunk with their friends. Guess it didn't help that our room was right next to the courtyard.

Overall in need of serious renovation and increased staff professionalism. 

Has potential

we arrived in rosario and went straight to Kalifornia hostel, the staff we're polite.  our private room was on the top floor with a shared bathroom which was a toilet cubicle with a shower head above it! in general the whole place was in desperate need of some TLC  felt quite dirty.  Air con and wifi were good but the kitchen had a lot of insects so we didnt want to cook in it at all!  we loved rosario though so we decided to stay longer but opted to go and stay in la lechuza hostel instead, best decision we could've made.  location isnt great and the staff are VERY loud from about 7am when they change shifts.  'free breakfast' was terrible, 1  stale, dried biscuit thing in a packet.  dont bother, we went there because it was the cheapest but I would personally spend the extra £1 and get a better place.
