My family and I were in Rio Cuarto to visit family. We only had plans to stay one night to celebrate a birthday and then go to visit relatives buried at the local cemetery. We arrived Saturday night and had two rooms reserved, one on the fourth floor and one on the third. I had the fourth floor room and the only thing wrong with the room was the inability to connect to the internet, but given I didn’t have cell service, that was a biggie. The hotel did move me to another room on the fourth floor but I still had to go to the hall to get WiFi. Not good. The room on the third floor was fine. The most impressive thing to me was how the hotel managed a catastrophe. Our stay coincided with the massive outage that cut electricity to all of Argentina, starting at 7 am. Not only did lights not work, but elevators, phone etc were out. The hotel staff was understandably rattled but they quickly rallied, kept their wits and humor about them and focused on guest safety and quickly alerted everyone of the situation. They checked on everyone, made sure the stairways were well lit, etc. Amongst all of that, they still managed to serve a full open breakfast!!! How??!! Incredible. Kudos to all of the staff!! They do have free parking but for some reason they are not allowed use of the elevator in the garage, which is why they offerto park your car for you!
