Complejo Los Troncos

This is a great place to base yourself for a visit to Puerto Madryn! Built to look like a Swiss chalet, out of logs, it's very distinctive & the guy who runs it is so friendly. We speak little Spanish & he speaks no English, but we managed to communicate just fine. We initially booked for 3 days, then decided to stop longer because there is so much to do & see around Puerto Madryn. Los Troncos offers rooms & apartments. We tried both. We realised that the self-catering apartment gave us the option to cook for ourselves, which makes a nice change if you are travelling for a while. Los Troncos is about a 30 mins walk from the main town shops & restos & bars, about 10 mins walk from the sea. It's located in a residential part of town. The great thing about that is there are plenty of food shops around - mini supermarkets, greengrocers & butchers. We tried most of them out. Best carniceria is towards the sea, left along Ave Roca for about 5 blocks. Best greengrocer & grocers are turn left out of Los Troncos, 1st left, a block away. Like I said, lots to do in Puerto Madryn. Most convenient & best of all was 10 mins walk away by the sea, Abramar Buceo - snorkel with the sea lions. Do it -:)
