Departamentos Santa Monica

Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Departamento Santa Monica. The location is good - it is located a 5 minute walk from the seafront with 2 supermarkets nearby. We cooked all our meals in so can't comment on restaurants. The apartment itself (number 6) was very spacious, bright and airy with lots of windows. There was a large living area with kitchen, dining table and 4 spare beds (this apartment could sleep 6 but it would be a squeeze! We had it for 2!). We used one as a settee. The kitchen was well stocked with pots / pans / plates / cutlery / wineglasses with a big fridgefreezer and a gas stove with oven. There was even a washing machine! The apartment does not have air conditioning but there is a fan provided and this just about sufficed. Without the fan it would have been unbearable (daytime temps were hitting 40 degrees!), especially as mosquitos kept sneaking in if we kept the windows open. The apartment did seem to keep itself fairly cool though, even with the heat outside. Wifi is excellent; we had no problems with it. The owner, Santiago, is a very pleasant man and speaks excellent english. We had one hiccup on arrival: he was not at the apartments to meet us and my husband had to find a phonebox to call him as we had been waiting for nearly an hour! However he answered his phone promptly and was very apologetic for the mistake. We had no further problems during our stay and he was frequently at the front desk should we have needed him. My one major disappointment with the apartment was the cleanliness: there was hair in the plugholes in both the sink and bathroom, thick dust beneath an exposed shelf in the kitchen and the kitchen drawers were full of crumbs and dust. Also the cutlery had to be washed thoroughly before use. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in this apartment but would like to see cleaner rooms if we were to stay again.
