Hotel Saint James

If you're looking for a clean, convenient and inexpensive hotel in New York City then the Hotel Saint James might be just right for you. This small hotel is located near the theatre district as well as an easy walk to many of the tourist sights. It's not fancy, no restaurant or bar but a few steps away from two great deli's and a Starbuck just down the street (of course). Rooms were standard size (small) for an older NYC hotel and, although dated, they were well maintained and cleaned by a very efficient staff. Desk staff is very helpful (especially Joey) and knowledgeable of the area. It's not fancy or plush but it's also not as expensive as most hotels in the same area. Unless you need (or want) a lot of attention and amenities (work out room, pool, room service, etc.) then this hotel might fulfill you needs at a price that won't restrict your other vacation activities. Since the hotel is small there is never a long wait for the elevator and the front desk is never congested with tour groups checking in or out. It will be easy for me to choose a hotel for my next trip to NYC - it will definitely be the Hotel Saint James - again. By the way, wi-fi (not the faster you'll ever use) is free - something that other hotels charge up to $20 a day to use.
