Al Sol has a couple of apartments in an apartmentbuilding with a small shopping mall. You live there as an inhabitant of Mendoza, which is nice.The woman who runs the place is not always in her booking-office, but you can reach her by phone. She also can arrange tours for you, which are to recommend. At night you have to open or close the gate of the mall for security. It's great value for your money. The place is near the Peatonal Sarmiento with lots of restaurants.

Spacious, clean apartments

We were disappointed with the entry to these apartments. Had to enter through a shopping gallery which was not very nice. Had to unlock security gates to get in to the place after hours and on Sunday. 
The apartment was clean but very "run down" , not as pictured. The place was noisey from the outside traffic and dogs but could hear very little from activity inside the building. The heavy metal window "covers" were hard to manouver. 
No wifi for our first day there and after that it was fine, not speedy.
We thought that there were laundry facilities but there was only a drying rack.
Patricia, the apartment manager, was very nice and helpful with a great sense of humor.

Not what we expected

Its been an awesome stay for 2 nights ( clean, large, all necessities provided ) until, after walking all day, I foolishly asked how we could catch a bus to Av Sarmiento for dinner. Not so helpful! Most things worked very well.

DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE! IGNORE THE REVIEWS!
I only gave this place one star because I could not leave a no star rating! I have travelled for over thirty years & have have yet to experience anything as utterly TERRIBLE as this place!
It was a complete RIP OFF!!! With NO customer service WHATSOEVER!!!
I used booking.com to book this place, having had SO many great experiences previously all over the world, & especially over the past three months travelling all over Chile. The other reason was because I liked the booking.com green tag GUARANTEE on the PRICE that there was "no hidden surpises, final charge guarantee". 
However upon arrival I was hit with an EXTRA CHARGE OF USD $117!!!!!! Were it not for the fact that the check-in receptionist spoke NO ENGLISH & indignantly argued this point with me using my limited Spanish, & that I had been travelling all day with a large pack & two extra bags I would have walked out there & then. Instead I opted to contact booking.com, do some research on alternate hotels, & prepare my arguement on my phone translator. 
However upon entering the room it was rapidly apparent none of the above was going to be possible owing to the WIFI NOT FUNCTIONING! Patiently giving the place the benefit of the doubt, the balshy receptionist (who could not understand why this was even a problem for me) proceeded to become EXTREMELY short with me & huffed & puffed until finally agreeing to "See if there was another room available". Fifteen minutes later I was in another room with one less TV. Not really a problem for me, but still, it was a downgrade on the room.
Now too late to bother showering I simply went to bed on THE MOST UNCOMFORTABLE BED I have encountered in the last four months. It was hard & the 'join' down the middle felt like a metal bar which was SO BAD my partner opted to get up & go sleep on the single bed in the kitchen!
The following day I encountered a problem with the shower. The shower lasted no more than 4 minutes before it went stone cold meaning only one person could use the shower before having to wait 40 minutes for the tank to geat up again. Fine for a guy wanting a quick refresher shower but by the time you get the temperature right & hop in, you have no time to enjoy a really decent shower. I have long hair so I could not wash my hair! After discussing the private bathroom & room accommodation my friend had booked for half the price five minutes away, I decided to request a refund & move. Unfortunately the office was not open between 12.45pm & 5.30pm so I had to give up & opt to address the issue the following day as we had a dinner engagement.
The following day I was greeted by the EXTREMELY RUDE receptionist telling me I could not cancel my booking without FORFEITING ALL MY MONEY. Afted much arguing the only resolution was to move rooms. This we could not do until the following day though (so I had to pack up my toiletries & go to my friends room to shower) & said move could only take place at 12.30pm - so we had to cancel our scheduled day tour to accommodate this move, to which we were hissed at & told it was our fault "Because we made her crazy with these problems!
The following day we were awoken by the receptionist at 9.45am saying we had to move pronto because she had people waiting. We packed up & rushed down to the new room.
The wifi was so slow I could no longer connect to any app such as booking.com, the bed was half the size, the room had no views (which was also listed on the original booking) & then the TV would not allow for the USB function. Realising that the remote was incorrect & not for the allocated TV we once again brought this to the receptionist's attention. She attempted to explain this away by stating the TV was not a smart TV!!! BullSh**!!! It was a new HD TV with USB connectivity! She point blank refused to swap it with the one from the previous room & proceeded to tell us "You leave now you make loco" & upon agreeing as long as I was refunded she said promptly said no.
Though many of these issues are kind of petty, & I probably would not question them otherwise, the fact that I was CHARGED ABOVE THE ODDS for the room in the first place, & then over three days & three rooms got progressively down graded & treated like I was the problem, made this all completely unacceptable. 
If I had been willing to accept no shower, no wifi & no TV I would have booked somewhere else. However this was supposed to be my treat after travelling for so long, so we could take a break & have some creature comforts - NONE of which were received here, & ironically all of which I had received in cheaper hostels in Chile.
This made my overall first impression of Mendoza tainted & left me tired by all the drama.

TERRIBLE! RIP OFF! I only gave it one star because I could not leave a no star rating!
