Hotel Carly is in no way flash at all. The entire place and all of the facilities are very basic but absolutely functional and suitable for the price you are paying. We paid ARS300 for a double room with no en suite. As said, the bathrooms were very basic wet room styles but the water is hot and the pressure is good. The rooms are pretty warm but they do have fans and the wifi is fine. My only two small complaints would be how noisy it can be at times because it is a very large open space at the hotel and the fact that the 'kitchen' is pretty poorly equipped and not really very clean. Other than that it was fine. The staff don't speak much English but they are very friendly and helpful in every way they can be! For the price and the location right in the middle of San Telmo next to the weekend markets I would definitely stay here again. 20 minutes walk from the centre, good public transport connections and a safe area.

Very simple but great for the price

The room itself was fine, away from street (quiet) and pretty clean. The location was perfect. The bathrooms were a bit annoying as toilet paper wasn't provided, and the showers made it so the seats were always wet. The kitchen was disgusting and greasy and didn't have many utensils so I wouldn't recommend cooking!
This place is fine if you just want a cheap place to sleep give and we had no problem staying here, but I can't honestly give it more stars.

It's cheap at least....

This place is for very flexible and adventurous people only and people that won't mind sloppy service, dilapidated facilities, greasy kitchen and lingual barrier.

Our madness began with arriving after 22 pm when there was no one to check us in. The door was locked and there were two other couple that booked, arrived to the shut gate and just left.

A kid, then guest of a hotel, let us in and appointed us to dilapidated room where we slept.

In the morning we were checked in, we got one night free of charge. It took tremendous effort to arrange everything because two 100 year old guys did not speak any English and we somehow managed with our broken Spanish.

Carly is in the hearth of San Telmo just 20 meters from San Telmo plaza. If you're on a budget this is the best deal you can get but you can forget everything else.

As of facilities: the kitchen is absolute disaster, wi-fi works only at the reception, rooms need new furniture, bathrooms need renovation... in general this place is crying for take over by serious investor but then the prices wouldn't be so affordable.

Make sure you take the receipt because you maybe accused of not paying and required to pay twice because there is no communication between the staff whatsoever.

If you don't mind all this and if you're able to get in - go ahead and book at Carly's.
Also bear in mind that every other place around is at least double priced.

cheap but dirty and 80 year old staff do not speak English at all

So, we got there with a reservation and the host said "Sorry, no more rooms." I explained him we had a reservation and the answer was "I know, but at the moment we don't have rooms available." He didn't even apologize. He didn't even care... at all. "It's not my fault. My boss does it everytime." he ended with class.
PS: It was Friday evening. Everything was full.

Miserable

This hotel is a place for budget travelers who will spend a long time in Buenos Aires. Its cheap and its close to the San Telmo Plaza. Free internet, 180 pesos for a single person in a dubbelbed.

Summary words: Cheap, kind but lazy staff, noicy,and awful security.

The hotel is very cheap and there are common bathrooms were the usage of toilett paper is not allowed. You are instead supposed to put your body in a separete washing bowl on the for to clean your private parts. 

Its very noicy: The cleaningstaff starts cleaning 07.00 and keeps doing this until 11.00 or so. Then the hotel turns silent. I woke up by this every single night. The room has also no fans so when the sun is on all day. Imagine the heat in the evening. 30 celcius bedroom. You clearly can hear loud conversations because of the ecoo and the building formation.

I stayed in room nr 18. A room towards the patio. When I came in one late night some one had broken through the bathroom window and climbed in. 10000 pesos stolen from me and my phone. Every thing was in my travel bag with a lock on. The location of the room invited thiefs. Nothing you thing about first.

I got no responce or appolgy from the staff. They helped me call the police and the next morning i checked out because of the unsecurity of the room. Same day they rent out the same room to another backpacking couple. I got so mad! No doormen, no staff checking, The hotel is also a long term accomodation for Argentinians in San telmo.

This hotel needs to decide if they want to run a hotel or not! Its horrilbe and I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.
