we really felt welcomed by the local family owners who seem to be planning further upgrades for their property. a clean apartment with good wifi and TV. close to beach, 1 block away. small shop on site. car hire on site, good value and easily arranged. kitchen well equipped for complete self catering although we only used in for breakfast. many local eateries within walking distance. felt safe at all times. peaceful small town, more noise from chickens than traffic! I would go there again. Not for anyone expecting "luxury, could be anywhere, corporate" hotel, support local business and we loved it.

Note this is now called ‘Edwards Inn & Villas’.  We loved staying here. It is basic and a welcome break from the usual hotel environment. It was immaculately clean, very spacious, provided everything required for self-catering, has a great location, and is owned/run by a lovely family. There is a very small shop in reception that has the basics (water, milk, etc), and there are a range of restaurant options on the beach opposite. They sorted out a hire car for us (a must if staying on Anguilla), gave us useful advice, and were very welcoming hosts. We stayed here for 3 nights and were sad to leave. The aircon works well, as does the wifi, and it was comfortable.  One of the showers was temperamental on the last day, but nothing to complain about.

Friendly, helpful, great...

Incredibly friendly owners, which really boosted this place. The room was clean and the air conditioning worked well. Lovely location across from the Sandy Ground beach, which has a couple of nice bar and restaurants options, and easy access to plenty of the rest of the island. Nice view across the lagoon from the back too. 

On an island that has such crazy accommodation prices, you really can't argue with this one.

Incredibly friendly staff, clean and well located

After the hurricane, repairs are still been done but the place is nice. Everything looks old and rickety but they work. Not expensive so its affordable...will come with friends next time. 
It seems odd that they dont collect the bill when you get in. It is really close to the beach and affordable food

Clean and quiet

Low key, budget friend rooms that are centrally located on the island in the Sandy Ground area. Room (205) was large, comfortable and clean. Equipped with kitchen and private veranda. A/C and TV. If you’re looking for fancy, this isn’t it. 

As of June 2019, they are working on improvements for the property, which doesn’t affect the room itself, but doesn’t make for inviting grounds. It had running hot water, a toilet that worked, comfortable bed, plenty of seating with an eat-in kitchen. For the price you pay, the value is fair. I’d stay here again. Not to mention, it’s located within walking distance to half a dozen bars/restaurants. 3.5 rating is about right, not very good, but good to average. I’m low maintenance, so this worked well. 

Budget friendly accommodations. 

We spent 2 nights here in April 2019. Most reviews are for much earlier dates.
The hotel is like a building site. They are trying to make improvements and believe me there are many to be done. The well worn image is not a result of the hurricane two years ago just many years of neglect. Most for the furniture should have been binned years ago. The photos on TripAdvisor are out of date. The kitchen was disgusting.
The hotel has now a different name Edwards 
It is the cheapest place to stay on Anguilla. It is very near a fantastic beach. The owner is friendly and offered to improve our stay by changing the mattress on the bed and a free ride back to the ferry terminal. 

Think before you reserve

Visited this hotel during one night. The staff there was very unhelpful, didnt want to help us at all. The people at this place only speak spanish - we tried to communicate but they didnt even tried, they just sat and was uninvolved. I dont recommend this place to anyone. Choose another place.

I do not recommend this place

Sydans is comfortable and economical for those on a budget.  Its just across the road from the beach and in an area that has multiple restaurants and bars within walking distance, including some of the best on the island, so the location is excellent without paying "beach front" prices.  The rooms are a little sparsely furnished perhaps, but you have everything you need.  The kitchen is adequately equipped and so I was able to choose between eating out or cooking for myself and saving some cash, which when you are there for a month is a consideration.  The staff are all very friendly and helpful.
