Located in the centre of town is a very plush offering. The lobby is all marble, chandeliers and velvet furniture. This extends to the room filled with big dark wood coloured furniture and marble bathroom. Our room had a view over the park and lots of natural light. The room had a musty smell but this was managed by airing the room out by opening the window. Some of the bathroom fittings, like the towel racks, were a bit loose. The shower in a bath is a big step out and I guess the bathroom fittings were nearby grip points. Wifi access and speed was fine. Breakfast was fine, a standard continental breakfast set of options. The pool and spa didn’t appear to be operational.

Well located hotel

We were in this hotel for 3 days and it was everything excellent. The rooms were clean and everything in order. Front desk very nice and also the service very professional. I highly recommend this hotel for who want to visit Shkoder you are in the heart of the city.

Very good location, clean and professional in hospitality.

Stayed only one night in Shkoder. This hotel was perfectly fine. The receptionist was on top of things and very friendly. I just wondered why she had to keep our passports overnight.

The room was otherwise comfortable -- with a queen-sized bed, a small desk, wooden floors -- except that it was rather stuffy. I couldn't get the A/C to work, which was probably because they had already switched it to heating. I slept with the window open, to be woken up by the muezzin calling the faithful to prayer before sunrise.

The hotel décor, including in the room, was quite busy -- some might say kitschy -- but it had its charm. For instance, in the lobby, there was a large bust of a gorilla (don't ask).

The location is smack in the middle of the small town. The university where we had most of our meetings is just across the street. There's a lively walking street just behind with a decent selection of restaurants and cafés (the Italian one we found was excellent). Interestingly, when we returned to the hotel just after 10 pm everything was dark: the lobby, the reception, the bar... We had to let ourselves in and forget about any notion of a nightcap. 

All in all, if you happen to be in Shkoder, do take the opportunity to stay at the Grand Hotel Europa.

Probably the best in town

The hotel provides very good services. Rooms are clean, cozy and comfortable. The hotel location is perfect, you can go on foot to get whatever staff you need. The hotel is surrounded by variety of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. It also provides SPA services.

Worth to try!

This is a beautiful hotel right in the center of the city. A grand lobby with classical style decoration is very impressive. The room is well equipped and the bathroom is good in condition. 

Grateful to the staff  for their attentive care at the breakfast lounge. They offered us additional byrek (Albanian traditional food) the most delicious of all I tasted in Balkan countries. I like them serve famous local dessert trilece both at dinner and breakfast.
If you have to leave the hotel early in the morning, get up early to avoid the queue at the elevators.
Overall, it was a good experience to stay here with high quality service.

high quality service

We went as a couple for a xmas break for three days........we booked as it advertised gym, spa, pool, nice bar with entertainment and retaurant.....

1. Pool closed and empty of water.
2. Spa closed
3. Gym closed
4. Bar closed
5. Restaurant closed

Room - Rooms are clean and comfortable, except in mini bar the minatures of alcohol have been there so long that they have half evaporated....the gin even had mould inside it.
The TV channels are limited are very limited. Rooms were cleaned and made up each day well.

Hotel lobby bar - it is a basically being used as a coffee shop for locals. Nice enough, prices sensible. No real complaints.

Breakfast - we were (we guess) the only guests in the hotel...due the question of “exactly what time will you be down for breakfast”, and on walking in at aforementioned time the lights were turned on! We weew given a bottle of water, had to ask for coffee and no other fruit juices offered.  We were given a mix of breakfast items which were passable, not five star. second day we were 15 mins late for our rquested time. We sat, no staff appeared. We left after 10 mins of waiting. Third day didnt even bother.

Pool/gym - told these were closed by government due to covid....hard to believe as other hotels in both Shkoder and Tirana have their pools open. 

The staff were all friendly enough and helpful. 

This hotel is nowhere near five star.....

I am trying to not be too harsh as trade is obviously virtually nonexistent due to covid etc; however i do think they need to update adverts to clearly state what is offered and what is not.

Maybe with some more guests and a bit more atmoshpere it would have been better.....but needs to “downgrade” its self appointed five stars to three OR do some serious improvements throughout

Tired and half closed....

This hotel has a great location and I have stayed many times but I think this will be my last. The hotel is yellow everywhere now from cigarette smoke. There is a continuous fog. Not sure why smoking is allowed in the bar and other public areas? The breakfast is terrible and the general service is not great.

Gets worse with every stay

The most famous hotel in the center of Shkodra, with a very large area. More conference rooms, meeting rooms and the best restaurant in town. Very nice and cozy hotel rooms and suites, with family playgrounds where children can play as they please. Good staff and super service.

Beautiful hotel

Great location, very clean and comfortable. The food is delicious and the service is very good. The rooms are very beautiful, clean and warm. I think everything is perfect in this place. Highly recommended!
